"Normally, it is Poppy or I that go out and meet someone. This time, however, was very, very different. It was a surprise to us both that as I was trying to sort my scrolls of information from spells that Cherie disturbed us in the library; apparently, I had a GUEST that had found my manor, and while I wasn't currently linking it to a world! Granted, they had the good manners to at least knock on the front door and ask if they could meet me. I was not ready for WHO I met, however; it wasn't due to fame or titles, but someone with raw potential and talent, whom sadly never could find someone of skill and power to teach them how to better refine the gifts they had been born with.
We sat and spoke at length in my lounge, where Tracy cares for my bar, and the environment welcomes relaxation. My guest introduced himself as Valtz; certainly an interesting name to say the least, and he had been born with powers over darkness and shadows. Granted, not only was he also skilled at navigating the multiverse (A talent he had to work hard to refine), everyone and everywhere he went he was deemed involved with evil simply due to the nature of his magics. Honestly, I find such a notion to be ludicrous. Shadow magic is no more evil than light, and neither cannot exist without the polar opposite.
He seemed relieved, even a bit happy to hear I wasn't just going to assume the same as everyone before our meeting. I did note he seemed to admire I had so much power regardless of my current state; but that doesn't diminish my utter shock when he asked if I would mentor him! Truth be told, I toppled my chair over onto the floor, making both Poppy and Tracy worried for my well being. Me?! A teacher?! It took me a while to compose myself, but Valtz then told me that he was willing to pay any price or do anything in his power to compensate me. I mean, it's pretty damning to say that kind of thing to a God, but...
I had to admit, it would be nice to have a student. I took a little while, allowing him the full privileges of a guest (Having every mid wait on him hand and foot), but eventually wrote him a contract. The terms would involve joining my staff, as well as allowing himself to be made a female and plush like the rest of my staff. However, he would be allowed to remain himself, have free study of my entire library, a safe place to practice magic, and a roof and free meals in exchange for being in charge of the library, from keeping it neat and clean to assisting me and the staff with any knowledge or spell we needed.
I must admit, the quickness he signed with took me aback; but with a signature on paper and a agreement reached, he submitted himself to Poppy's eyes an voice, and he was allowed to take a new turn in his life..."
