The Clothing Issue
This here is Miranda Livingston, mother of my fat gerbil girl Sandy Livingston.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Backstory:
For as long as she could remember, Miranda had always been overweight. She was fairly plump as a child and as the years passed, she continued to be a very hefty individual. Diet and exercise did little to improve her figure and during her teen years, she got picked on a lot because of her weight. Needless to say, she didn't have a very good childhood and she was pretty happy when it was all over.

When Miranda graduated from high school (she was seventeen at the time), she began studying medicine in the hopes of becoming a nurse. Two years later, she acquired an Associates Degree in Nursing and soon started working at St. Philip's Hospital. While there, she met her future husband, Daniel Livingston. Daniel was a blonde haired, blue eyed gerbil with a powerful build and a sincere smile. He was also a patient at the hospital; he broke both his left leg and his right arm by accidentally falling down seven flights of stairs. Turns out he was kind-of a klutz. Anyway, when he and Miranda first met, they instantly felt a connection. Miranda would visit and chat with Daniel every day for the next six months, and when Daniel had fully recovered from his injuries, the two officially began dating. They dated each other for about a year until Daniel decided it was time to take the next big step. He proposed to Miranda after dinner one night, to which she responded by tackling him with a passionate kiss. She had never been that happy before ever in her entire life. They were married four months following Daniel's proposal; Miranda was 21 years old at the time of the wedding, while Daniel was about 24.

At the age of 23, Miranda gave birth to their first and only child, Sandy. Daniel and Miranda loved their new daughter dearly and they tried to spend as much time with her as physically possible. For several years they were a very warm, caring and happy family; that is, until tragedy struck. When Sandy was about eight years old, her father Daniel had gotten into a car accident. A drunk driver had run a red light and then slammed into Daniel's vehicle head-on. Neither he nor the other driver survived the crash and with Daniel now gone, Miranda tried to raise Sandy on her own. The next few years would be hard for her though, for things only continued to get worse. As time passed, Sandy grew to become a very attractive young woman. She was tall, she was pretty, and above all else, she was thin. Sandy however, was also rude, shallow, arrogant and selfish. She treated everyone else around her like dirt, and she made a habit of mocking people just to satisfy her own ego. This was especially the case for Miranda. Sandy berated and insulted her mother constantly, usually by calling her names and generally treating her badly. The two of them were very distant during that time and they seemed more like strangers rather than a family. That all changed though when Sandy had gotten herself into a car accident, just like her father before her.

Despite all of the abuse that she took from Sandy, Miranda still cared very deeply about her daughter. Miranda would spend all of her free time in Sandy's hospital room, just to be close to her. After spending a whole year in St. Philip's Hospital, Sandy was determined to have made a full recovery; even though she had gained a considerable amount of weight due to the medications she received as part of her treatment. In the following months, Sandy discovered how horrible a person she really was and decided to become much more considerate towards others; and that was particularly true for her mother. While on the verge of tears, Sandy made a heart-felt apology to her mother for all the terrible things that she did; and when Miranda accepted the apology, Sandy wept uncontrollably as she sobbed her gratitude. From then on, Miranda and Sandy became much closer than ever before. And for the first time in a very long time, they felt like a real family again.

Personality:
Since Miranda had to deal with a lot of teasing while growing up, she ultimately became a very timid and soft-spoken person. She's very easily embarrassed, she tends to avoid confrontation as much as possible and she sometimes acts painfully shy while around other people. She's a very sweet woman though, and she's regarded as having the patience of a saint. She also feels a great amount of satisfaction whenever she helps someone, which is partially why she works as a nurse at St. Philip's Hospital.

Description:
Miranda is currently 45 years old and about 5'5" tall. She also has a fairly heavy build, along with brownish-gray hair and light brown eyes.

Misc. Info:
Daniel used to work as a health instructor at a local fitness club. He was on his way back home from work when the accident occurred, ending his life.

After Daniel passed away, Miranda cried herself to sleep for nearly two months straight. At the time, she just didn't see how she could possibly live without him. Months passed and she eventually learned to cope with her husband's death; since in the end, she determined that there was nothing left to do but move on.

When Sandy had to be hospitalized because of her car accident, Miranda ended up spending quite a bit of money so as to give her daughter the medical treatment that she needed; thus accruing a lot of debt in the process. Miranda was able to pay-off most of her debts over the past few years, but she and Sandy are still only just scraping by and Miranda sometimes has trouble paying all of her bills on time.

Miranda's silver necklace is something of a family heirloom, since it was passed down to her by her mother and her mother's mother. Miranda hopes to give it to Sandy someday in the future; provided she doesn't have to pawn it in order to pay for this month's electric bill.

Even though Miranda accepted her apology some...three years ago now, Sandy still feels like she owes her mother for all the pain that she caused her. She tries to help Miranda whenever she can and Sandy has been known to cook meals for her mother on multiple occasions. Due to this fact, Miranda sometimes feels embarrassed/guilty about all the nice things that Sandy does for her. After all, Miranda feels that one should never have to earn a mother's love and forgiveness.
