Mondays are the worst. And this Monday would go down as the worst in history for Julia, Lexxi and Faye. They were just wrapping up their meeting about an assignment Julia was sending the two reporters on for their newspaper, The Azure Tribune: a big media convention several cities over that was taking place during a weekend not far away.
And that’s when THEY came storming into the office. The Fangs of Midas, who were not amused with all the digging Faye and Lexxi had been doing into their illegal drug and weapons deals, and had come to send a definite message to the reporters to cease and desist, or else…
Their imposing leader, King Midas, commanded half a dozen thugs to destroy any evidence of their operations they could find, physical or digital, that the ferret and lioness duo had collected in the offices downstairs. As for their new prisoners, he and his right-hand man, Silver, would take care of those. He had a soft spot for beautiful ladies, the Panther King explained as he had Silver strip them all to their underwear for added humiliation, so he’d prefer to leave them unharmed if they behaved.
For now, a ransacked office and a warning of rope, tape and rags to be gagged with would suffice. With all their other workers gone, the cleaning crew would find them next morning, King assured them. He then turned to Julia. “Just make sure your cute little snoops don’t come too close to our territory again. They’d fetch a high price on the right market…”
