I think they were trying to modernize it for the original fan base who would be adults at this point, but as a Gen 1 sonic fan, yeah... they f*cked up big time on this one. they could have made it live action and kept most of sonic untouched in the process, but this Hollywood knows best crap is going to kill one of the best franchises of all time. Sorry for the mini rant. I go hide now.

The problem is, the more realistic fur actually makes him look less realistic. Sonic is an extremely stylized drawing of a hedgehog, trying to make him more realistic looking while keeping that stylized design, is like trying to make a stick figure look realistic while keeping it a stick figure.

Well the FIRST thing I ever said was that making a live action Sonic movie was folly. Sonic is and should have always been a cartoon, just like Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse and all the other iconic cartoons. I don't know if you saw it, but remember how cringey that live action Woody Woodpecker was? How about how much better the fully animated Smurfs movie was than the 2 preceding live action ones? I really don't know why they are even bothering at this point. As far as I can tell no one is excited for this movie. They really need to cut their losses and bury this. I don't know if you are old enough to remember the worst game to movie adaption. Worse then Super Mario Brothers or Street Fighter, I'm talking about the Double Dragon movie.
