On November 16, 1907, Oklahoma becomes the 46th member of the United States. Following a failed attempt by the Indian Territory be admitted into the union as the state of Sequoyah, a movement to bring both the Indian Territory & the Oklahoma Territory into the union as one state began. The Enabling Act of 1906 was passed by Congress & President Theodore Roosevelt to lay the groundwork for admitting the new state and a constitution, based upon the one drafted for the proposed state of Sequoyah, was soon written.

Since statehood, Oklahoma has become a major player in oil and natural gas production as well as the field of aviation. The state is also a major producer of beef and wheat in the US. Oklahoma is also home to Tinker Air Force Base as well as the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, which manufactured the MOAB conventional bomb. The state and its people have also faced numerous challenges and crises ranging from natural disasters to terrorism to economic depressions, each time coming together and becoming stronger in the face of adversity.
