Chapter One

The great animal spirits that governed the land had given the ailing human race a second chance, giving man the form of beasts so that they may survive the wilderness that the world had become, but even though a second chance at life had been given mankind could not stop what had existed within their race for as long as anyone could remember; internal warfare that splits those who were once the same apart, causing those involved to call their enemy by a different name so that the fact that they were once the same would not hinder their judgment when in battle.

The fighting between those called the domestics and those called the wilds continued for a long time, though the domestics were superior in military strength the wilds they fought against also had weapons of their own, weapons capable of a surprising amount of destruction despite the their very limited technology. And thus, the fighting went without end.

Despite the constant battle, both sides found ways of continuing on with their lives, for if all they did was fight their side would certainly parish. Some on both sides of the war saw the significance in this simple and natural way of life; to find someone, start a family, grow old and then watch your child do the same. It was such a beautiful concept, and because of this, just as there were people that wanted to fight, there were people who did not want to fight and instead wanted to preserve this precious way of life. Ever so slowly a glimmer of acceptance began to be seen in all of the warfare.

Many would try to get rid of that small glimmer, fearing that if they allowed it to grow more people would choose not to be warriors, and their side would grow weak resulting in them losing this battle, but try as they might this small ray of light, no matter how hard it had to struggle, would always be there.

High in the mountains in an area well secluded from both the elements and prying eyes, is a clearing sounded by many large native wooden carvings of animals, these totems representing the many animal spirits that existed in the world. The towering carvings all staring at the center of the clearing where right now a large collection of wilds have gathered together, these figures the chieftains of all the wild tribes that right now lived within this country, all of them gathered here in meeting with speak to one another over the many important affairs that concerned their people.

Though these tribes were known to fight one another from time to time for control over hunting grounds they would always meet like this in this place, to discuss peacefully the issues that concerned them and their people and hopefully prevent the fighting, the talk of ceremonies, of land ownership, of the fighting against the domestics that right now oppressed them, of both receiving and giving aid to another tribe if they were in need of help, and of course the futures of their tribes.

A gruff voice speaks up as a large amber wolf begins to talk. “The domestics have cultivated our hunting grounds, my tribe needs to move somewhere else or we will not be able to feed ourselves.”

A large bear speaks up in response to the wolf. “I would love to help you old friend, but the land where I live on cannot support any more that it already does.”

A red fox speaks up after the bear, he able to help the amber wolf’s tribe with their trouble. “I will give you some of my territory, there should be enough for both my people and yours, consider my dept repaid from when you sent warriors from your tribe to help mine when the domestics attacked us.”

The chieftain that has just now spoken up looks over to a white wolf whom had on him a headdress made out of what resembled a large raven skull dawning coal black feathers that ran all the way from the skull down his back. He was the smallest in size of the chieftains that had gathered there, the others at least twice his size in height and probably four times in size in muscle. “I must thank you too Shiya, the warriors you sent my way helped to drive the domestics back and keep them that way. I am in your debt.”

Shiya, the small white wolf looks back to the fox, speaking up and responding to the thanks that had been sent his way, though he did not physically look the part he was currently the leader of a tribe known as ‘Raven Wolf’, which was one of the most powerful tribes in the country. “Just as always, food is the only way you need repay me.” As odd as the request sounded it was actually a very practical and necessary request, as the Raven Wolf tribe was cursed and removed from the circle of life by the great animal spirits until they were able to rid this land of the domestics, meaning that neither he nor his people could hunt or grow food for themselves, they having to depend on the assistance of others and the spirits to feed them.

The fox looks happy to fulfill Shiya’s request. “Of course, I will send your warriors back with supplies as your payment as I usually do.”

The chieftains continue to speak amongst themselves; all of them were used to Shiya’s requests by now, it after all usually the same thing, he offering to help the other tribes by lending the support of his warriors or information on the domestics in exchange for food. Though usually seen as an obscured request when a new chieftain entered the order it was soon learned that Shiya’s warriors were unmatched and indeed tide turners when it came to battle, some of the chieftains even overlooking the fact that Shiya was taking so long to put an end to the domestics -if it could even be done at this point-, as he was doing everything in his power to keep wilds other than those directly in his tribe safe from the domestics if they were to attack.

A female wolf who had the same brilliant coloured coat of white as Shiya sits silently behind him, she waiting patiently as she watches the chieftains continue to talk amongst themselves. Though her father had brought her to these gatherings before on occasion this was perhaps the first and only time she had ever felt this nervous, she waiting on her father to make in important announcement.

Finally, after what felt like and could very well have been hours of more talking, Shiya speaks up bringing up the topic Iuana; his daughter whom sat patiently behind him, knew to have been coming. “I have an announcement to make. My time as leader of Raven Wolf is coming to an end, and I will be passing my title on to someone else.”

The chieftains all look to one another, this indeed surprising news, Shiya after all was rumoured to be over three hundred years old, and he had always been Raven Wolf’s leader even before they themselves were leaders and were just small cubs and pups, the small white wolf the leader of Raven Wolf even when their own parents were small, the same for even their parents before that, the thought that anyone else would be leading that particular tribe never having crossed anyone’s mind.

The chieftains all start to speak up at once as they question Shiya about this surprising announcement.

“You must be joking.”

“What could have possibly brought this about? It does not look as if you are in ill health, or even as if you are unable to lead your people any longer.”

Concerns continue to raise among the chieftains until hardly a thing could be understood because so many were questioning the small white wolf at the same time, Shiya waiting until they are quite once more before continuing with his announcement. “It has been made clear by the elders of my tribe that I have long overstayed my welcome as Raven Wolf’s leader. The elders have asked for me to step down from my position and give it to someone else.” He looks the chieftains over, they still looking uncertain about this idea. “Do not worry, it is not a position I intend to pass down until I am fully confident that the one who is to replace me can readily take my place and do all the tasks that will be asked of him. In the meantime-” He holds his hand back to his daughter, bringing her to the other chieftain’s attention. “The trials for Iuana’s suitor will be held six months from now, if you would relay the message to the warriors in your tribe it would be much appreciated.”

The chieftains again begins to speak to one another over the situation, this indeed an attractive proposal. After all Raven Wolf was the most powerful of the wild tribes, and though they were cursed it was because of that curse that they lived long for many years without growing old and weak, and of course one could never overlook just how beautiful Shiya’s daughter Iuana was and how many young warriors would certainly fight for such a prize as she.

Iuana looks back to her father, though the announcement had just been said it already felt as if everything was happening much too fast. In only six months, her suitor, the man she would be meant to marry would be found, and the two of them would be married and learn under her father the tasks needed to become Raven Wolf’s leaders, and then eventually replace him.

Of all the things that Iuana was not ready for, the one that she was the least accepting of was not a suitor or even getting married, those were fine and would come to be in most anyone’s life. It was the idea that she would be replacing her father that she was having trouble accepting.

*******

Surrounded by miles and miles of a thick fog that hides within it a sea of long tall grass, frozen forests of snow and ice, and a lake of freezing ice water, sits a large island which though surrounded by freezing ice, snow and fog on all sides, mysteriously remains free of all these things, the water at its banks warm and the grass and trees that grew upon it as green and lush as they would be in the summer, despite this secluded island’s location.

Deep within the thick forest of the island hidden beneath the leaves of the tall trees, hides a large village filled with huts and tents, the many wolves and other wilds that lived within this village known as Raven Wolf, the tribe cursed with the impossible task of eradicating the domestics.

Though the general populace of this tribe were of course wolves, other animals could as well be recognized here and there among their ranks, a bear or two, a fox here and there, even a skunk could be seen among them. Though each were different they all shared one thing in common, and that was the mark of a black raven with the head of a wolf upon their chest, a marking that was given to them by the spirits that labelled them a part of the cursed Raven Wolf tribe.

A brown female mouse stands before several members of Raven Wolf that were in training to become warriors of their tribe. This woman was known by the name of Tahki and though she was not a wolf like the vast majority of the tribe, or even a wild for that matter, she carrying many domestic features, she was still -unexpectedly to most at first glance-, currently the strongest warrior of the Raven Wolf tribe, she leading the warriors in battle, giving them objectives and missions for when she sent them away for battles, and of course, training those that wished to become warriors into warriors.

This position in the Raven Wolf tribe was not a title easily gained, and was one of the highest ranks among the tribe that one could earn. The only one that Tahki need answer to was Shiya, the tribes chieftain.

Tahki looks over the group that she is right now instructing, her gaze coming to a stop upon a grey wolf, he a new addition to her trainees as well as a new addition to Raven Wolf, though he had been among the tribe a little over a month now he had still not received from the spirits the black marking of Raven Wolf upon his chest and was currently the only one in the village without it. “Pay mind to your stance Security Guard! Stand like that in battle and you’re going to be knocked over.”

The grey wolf frowns as he looks over to the mouse while fixing his stance, Tahki having never once called him by his actual name ‘Teddy Conner’ since meeting him. Instead she had taken to calling him ‘Security Guard’ because when they had first been introduced Teddy was wearing the uniform of one. It was not as if she couldn’t remember the name, not many people had trouble with it on account to the fact that it made them recall a certain children’s toy every time they heard it. In all actuality she seemed to take to calling him by this title simply because it annoyed him so much.

As one could tell by the lack of the Raven Wolf marking upon Teddy’s chest, Teddy was a new addition to the tribe. Though descending from parents who were both wilds and carrying all the features a wild would carry himself, Teddy had been born and raised in the city as a domestic, where he had often found his roots and traditions embarrassing to him because they made him different from the rest of the domestics, causing him to be picked on when he was a child and feared for no good reason when he was an adult.

While living in the domestic city he had done his best to act like a proper domestic, and often shunned anything to do with the primitive wilds. Now though, due to certain circumstances that were at first out of his control, Teddy was now living among the wilds that shared and actively practiced the heritage he had spent his entire life avoiding. Though it had been his complete decision to stay here, and he thankfully got along well with ‘most’ of the wilds in Raven Wolf, he still was having trouble with all the traditions and habits, as in his mind he still could not help but think they were just a little bit foolish.

Luckily though, Teddy had managed to find some kind of familiarity in joining the warriors of the Raven Wolf tribe, as when he was a domestic he was a part of the Domestic Military. So having something a little familiar to cling onto was defiantly nice, and making the oddity of embracing everything he had been avoiding since a child a little bit easier.

Tahki gives the group one last look over before raising her voice and giving them instructions to follow. “Forward high lunge.” The group of trainees performs the action she had asked for, Tahki then continuing to give them orders one after the other. “Left mid block, back step, forward low lunge, face the left… your other left Mukki… honestly I sometimes wonder why you are here.”

A wolf with fur as black as night and white eyes watches the group as they perform, a grin on his face as he gets to his feet and begins trying to copy their movements, he a lot more clumsy and unable to match their perfect form, but still continuing despite his terrible skill for it. “Forward high lunge, back step, turn to your left and then… low sweep!”

The black wolf trips over his own footing and falls to the ground, another wolf that was near him laughing at his antics, his coat a brownish red with a white underbelly, the colour specked where the two colours met, giving him a freckled appearance, especially around his face. “Nice one Yula!”

Yula acted very much like a new addition to the Raven Wolf tribe even though he was born among them, already carrying the marking on his chest since he was a child. In fact, he acted even more like a new addition than Teddy did, because Teddy had parents that were both wilds and would always talk about and teach him his culture and traditions despite his dislike for them, while Yula, though born among wilds, was taken from them when he was just a small child and kept locked away in the domestic laboratories away from all forms of life except for the guards outside of his room and the scientists that would test and ask him questions. In fact Yula knew as much about wilds as he did about domestics, as he had been equally secluded from both.

Yula gets back to his feet dusting himself off. “Don’t make fun of me unless you can do any better Kitchi!” He pauses thinking over what he had said, the wolf he was talking too actually a full fledge warrior that finished his ceremony and received his markings as a warrior not that long ago, Yula sometimes forgetting because of how young he was compared to the other warriors. “… never mind…”

Kitchi begins going through the motions of the stances that the warriors in training were right now going through, he doing it smoothly and without any difficulty at all. “Just keep at it and you’ll be a warrior in no time. All it takes is practice.”

Yula gives Kitchi a warm smile, though it was fun to mimic it wasn’t actually something he wanted to do. “Yeah well I really don’t want to be a warrior, I just wanted to try it, I was bored and it kind of looked like it would be fun.” He holds his hand to himself. “Besides, I already have a role to play remember? I’m the oracle! I can’t fight.”

Kitchi grins as he stands up straight looking back to Yula, the oracle a being that was said to have visions of the past, present and future through their dreams. That a very rare and treasured ability, losing an oracle was one of the worst things that could happen so of course Yula would not be permitted to fight for fear that he would get himself hurt or killed during battle, this in fact being the reason that the domestics had taken and locked Yula away for study. “Yeah… I completely forgot about that! So have you had any visions lately?”

Yula shakes his head no, visions, he had learned since arriving at Raven Wolf, were not something that happened every night, they something that only showed up when there was a message that needed to be understood. “No nothing, do you think that’s a good thing or a bad thing?”

Kitchi shrugs his shoulders, he not knowing a whole lot about oracles besides the fact that they were important because of their dreams, he having never actually met one before meeting Yula “Who knows?”

Tahki’s lesson comes to an end and the mouse dismisses her trainees, they all breaking their strict formation and relaxing, each one heading their own separate way, Yula runs over to Teddy to great him once he sees that he is free. “So how was it today?”

Teddy frowns as she looks back to Tahki. “It’s almost as bad as being in the military with someone as her as my teacher, but other than that I think it went well.”

Yula nods his head. “Me too! You keep getting better every time I see you, and I didn’t believe you could get any better at first, you were always the strongest and best and nicest security guard I knew back at the laboratory.”

Kitchi walks up to Teddy giving him a few pointers. “You were doing well, your biggest concern right now is fixing that battle stance of yours, you don’t spread your legs far enough. Like Tahki said you could easy be knocked down if you are not planted properly on the ground. Other than that I think you’re next target of concern would be you’re overhead swing, sometimes you don’t do it as straight as it should be, and Tahki is very picky about these things so you have to make sure you’re doing it right.”

Yula nods his head in agreement, even though he really had no idea what Kitchi was talking about. “Yeah, you gotta work on your overhead stance.”

Teddy and Kitchi both stare at Yula, Yula looking away from them not even noticing that he had said everything incorrectly. His attention now on a thin, scruffy grey wolf who is running across the ground on all fours, passing by the group of three and skidding to a stop in front of Tahki as he begins to speak with her. “You and Hasson should prepare to go out and meet Shiya and Iuana, the raven said they would be arriving today, they should be here at any moment. I’ve already told Eleven and she is on her way.”

Tahki turns away from the scruffy wolf, the only way to enter the village was too first navigate the forest of ice and then boat across the icy waters, she and another having to take the boats from the island they lived upon to pick up the ones trying to get in. She looks over to a very large brown wolf calling him to come with her to go out and collect their chieftain and his daughter, the towering warrior, who also happened to be Kitchi’s father, known by the name of Hasson.

The grey scruffy wolf that took to walking about on all fours was known by the name of Achak, and he was the tribe’s medicine man and spirit guide, having recently replaced his deceased father he was still rather new to the profession and unfortunately wasn’t that good at it, he sometimes causing more trouble than help when it came to treating the wounded, while his odd behaviour which seemed more animal at times then person deterred many from asking him spiritual advice. There were some members of the tribe that overlooked his oddness and mistakes, Shiya was for some unknown reason quite tolerant of Achak despite having suffered from his errors in dealing with wounds a number of times, and of course there was Tahki, whom loved him dearly enough to marry him, much to most people’s confusion.

Kitchi looks away from Achak after watching him deliver the message to Tahki, he now looking to Teddy with a grin. Though Iuana was one of his best friends and he looked forward to her return he also know that a certain someone was probably more pleased to have her back than he. “Hear that Teddy? Iuana’s going to be home soon!! I bet you’re really excited about that.”

Teddy frowns as he looks over to Kitchi, he not entirely found with being teased on the subject. “I’m not any more excited than I would be if it was anyone else coming back.”

Yula presses further, he like Kitchi thought differently regarding the matter. “But isn’t that why you stayed in Raven Wolf, because you like Iuana? And why you’re training to be a warrior? Because only a warrior can enter the trials to be her suitor?”

Teddy crosses his arms denying that it was anything like that, though he had been very fond of Iuana and could very well have seen the two of them together before that had all changed when Iuana had told him about the suitors trials, she having basically shot him down while telling him about it. “The reason I chose to stay with Raven Wolf wasn’t just because of Iuana it was because of all of you. I made a lot of good friends here alright? As for me being a warrior I’m only doing that because Shiya recommended me to Tahki as one because of my military background.”

Kitchi looks over to Yula, despite what Teddy was saying in his defence the situation was still the same. Even if Teddy had faced rejection he still cared deeply for Iuana. “I bet you his tail will start wagging like a puppy’s as soon as he sees her.”

Yula smiles going along with what Kitchi has said, he too thinking the same about Teddy in concern to Iuana. “She’s been gone for almost a month to travel with Shiya to that chieftains gathering or whatever. Of course he’s going to be happy to see her! Happy enough to wag his tail for sure!!”

Kitchi and Yula begin to laugh, Teddy rolling his eyes as he looks back to them the conversation completely juvenile. “Soldiers don’t wag their tails, you learn that lesson in the military.” He looks over to Kitchi. “The same goes for warriors of the Raven Wolf tribe.”

Kitchi shrugs his shoulders. “Yeah normally… but that training doesn’t count when there’s a girl involved. I mean it’s not like it’s something you can really help when you’re that happy.” His attention is taken off of Teddy when he sees a female skunk walk by him, he lifting his hand and waving over to her his tail beginning to wag from side to side. “Hey Eleven are you going out to meet with Shiya and Iuana too?”

Eleven stops to look back at him giving him a simple nod of her head. “Yes.”

Kitchi runs up next to her, willing to endure a task as mundane as that if it meant spending more time with the very shy and quiet Eleven. “I’ll help you then! It’s easier when you have two people to row the boat right?”

Eleven was a peculiar member of Raven Wolf, the fact that she was not a wolf nor a wild not the odd thing about her. It was that fact that she was a genetic soldier created in a laboratory to be what was known as a Super Soldier that made her peculiar to say the least. Not only that but she was an exact duplicate of another Super Soldier that Teddy and the other members of Raven Wolf had run into, he sharing the same genetic code as her.

Yula and Teddy watch as Kitchi leaves with Eleven, Yula laughing to himself as he looks over to Teddy. “His tail was wagging. Just like yours will be as soon as Iuana gets back.” Teddy frowns at Yula, not saying anything as he instead just shakes his head and turns away from him to leave, Yula following after him.

*******

Happy laughter bounces of the large open rooms of an old museum that stood within a very populated domestic city, catching the attention of a racoon who is right now perched high on one of the large dinosaur bone exhibits to clean it of dust and cobwebs, he stopping his work for a moment as he turns toward the entrance of the museum, the laughter that came from that direction familiar to him, belonging to someone that he was positive that he knew. “Eve?”

He jumps onto a platform that he had used to get up, climbing his way down it and reaching the ground, he running toward the entrance of the museum as soon as his feet touched the floor.

He comes to a stop when he see Mr. Cadrey, his mentor and the old red fox that owned and ran the museum, talking fondly to his daughter Eve, who had been missing since the last time they had seen her almost two months ago. “Eve? What are you doing here? I thought you got kidnapped or something, are you alright!?”

Eve looks over from her father to the racoon that had just shown up, her mood more happy then either he or her father had ever seen it, Eve usually displaying either a strictly business attitude, or an easily angered and annoyed attitude about her. “Oh Fitz!! I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m so glad to see you!!”

She runs over to him wrapping her arms around him and hugging him tightly. Fitz freezes on spot from his unexpected shock, he unable to find anything to say to this. The two of them had always hated each other since they had first been introduced as children, and even though they would often put the friendly front on when Eve’s father was around they have never once since knowing one another hugged.

Eve laughs as she pushes away from him the grin having not left her face. “Oh it’s good to be back home. I tell you, the wilds were very accommodating to their guests but nothing beats being back here!”

Fitz looks Eve over, she not in her usually smartly dressed suit or even her lab coat from work, she right now wearing clothes no different from the ones a woman belonging to one of the wild tribes outside of the city would wear. Something he would have never pictured her to wear. “Wilds…?”

Eve nods her head as she turns away from them holding her hands out in the air. “Yes! I was living with the wilds for a while. Imagine that! Oh I never would have dreamed that I would EVER in my entire life be doing something like that! Usually I do my research from the comforts and convenience of the city, I can see why you and daddy love traveling around so much and dealing with ruins and wilds and everything!”

Fitz looks over to Eve’s father, he fondly watching his daughter as if she was not acting strange in the least, Fitz looking back to Eve, even if Eve’s father didn’t see it he could clearly tell that she was not acting as she normally did. “Are… you feeling alright?”

Eve turns back to Fitz. “Feeling alright? I’m feeling better then alright! Fitz I am going to embark on one of the most interesting projects in the world right now!! It’s unbelievable!”

Fitz nods his head, he somewhat understanding, Eve was a military scientist that was working on a very important project that dealt with preventing the end of the world, her good mood had to be work related, just like when she had first got the job, she having been pretty excited, though possible not this excited, when she had gotten it too. “Oh, so then you got a promotion or something at work then?”

Eve lets out a laugh waving her hand to Fitz. “Oh no, no of course not!! I was fired!”

Fitz stares at her that the complete opposite of what he had been thinking. “You… you were what?”

Eve still seems in her high spirits as she begins to explain. “Oh well, Yula went missing and without him the project I was working on could no longer exist. So they don’t need me anymore! I guess fired isn’t the right word, I suppose that ‘let go’ would be.” She walks back up to Fitz while continuing to speak excitedly. “The project I’m going to be working on is a personal one that I decided to dedicate myself to while I was a fugitive running from the military.”

Fitz seems confused. “Wait… fugitive? I thought they said you we kidnapped.”

Eve continues ignoring Fitz’s confusion, not wanting to go into detail on how she had gone from being kidnapped to becoming a fugitive, it after all having been a long and complicated story. “This is going to be great! Unravelling the secrets of Shiya and the Eden of North!”

Fitz continues to question her nothing she was continuing to say getting any clearer. “Shiya? Who’s Shiya?”

Eve smiles at the name. “Shiya? Oh he’s this very short three hundred year old wild that comes from a subspecies of wolf thought to have gone extinct! He’s a very interesting fellow, extremely docile for someone that happens to be the chieftain of his tribe, but still a nice person.”

“Three hundred years old?”

Eve nods her head. “Yes, as has these strange powers too, something to do with ice.”

Fitz just stares at her not sure what to say while Eve’s father just continues to smile in his happy manner, any oddity in this conversation just going right over his head.

Eve turns back to Fitz lifting her hand and placing her pointer finger on his nose. “You will not believe the amount of work I have to do, and believe it or not Fitz you are the perfect one to help me!”

Fitz quickly takes a step back his ears laying flat against his head. Not only did the two of them never get along in the past but they had never worked well together even when tending to tasks in her father’s museum, though Fitz could really care less if he worked with her or not Eve would outright refuse to do it, she always finding a way to get out of it or arrange things so that they would see each other for the least amount of time possible. “What? Me? Since when did you work with me on anything?”

Eve nods her head she unable to do this with anyone else. “Of course! You are the best thief I know! Who else would be better suited for the job?”

Fitz frowns at the title Eve has slapped on him, he quickly correcting her. “Treasure hunter, I’m a treasure hunter not a thief.”

Eve’s father lets out a laugh. “Depending on the situation Fitz it can be the same thing!”

Fitz frowns as he looks over to his mentor, he having been the one to take Fitz in and train him in his footsteps as a treasure hunter, his body being too old to go about such adventures on his own anymore. “Why are you siding with her...?”

Eve turns away from him walking back to her father and kissing him on the forehead before making her way down the hall. “Well then, I’m going to take a nice hot shower and change into some clean clothes! Fitz why don’t you make the two of us some coffee? Oh we’re going to be up for hours!! How exciting!!”

Fitz watches her leave, the coffee he made being one of the things that Eve would always before complain about in concerns to him. “Now I know something’s wrong of she actually wants some of my coffee…” He tries to think over everything that Eve had sprung on him, there being one thing that had stood out the most to him. “The Eden of North…”

The last time Eve had managed to contact him while she had been missing it had been about that exact same topic as well… for some reason the information and lore concerning that place had really grabbed her attention.

Eve’s father looks back to Fitz, the situation exciting. “If Eve doesn’t have a job anymore that means that she’s going to be here at the museum all day!! How wonderful!!”

Fitz groans at the reminder, he not sure if he could put up with it. Despite how happy Eve was to be home the two of them still did not get along. “Yeah… great…” He looks back to Mr. Cadrey with an almost pleading look, he not looking forward to being bossed around by Eve. “You wouldn’t happen to have another expedition to send me on would you? Somewhere far, preferably another country perhaps?”

Eve’s father laughs at the question. “Oh no my boy! Nothing of interest yet, you know I always consult you immediately if ever I find something.”

Fitz lets out a heavy sigh, there being no way to avoid this then. “That’s what I thought... drat...”

Raven Wolf - 02 - The Oracle - Chapter 15
Raven Wolf - 03 - The Warriors - Chapter 02
Book 3 in the Raven Wolf series.

Due to human negligence the world as we know it has ended and been reborn. The animal spirits that guide man giving them the forms of animals so that they would be able to survive in this new wilderness. Though now carrying the form of beasts man has not forgotten the place they once had, as an existence greater then just what nature wanted of them, an existence above all.

Those that worked to gain their humanity are known as domestics, while those who wished to follow the rolls the spirits had given them were known as wilds. Both groups grew arrogant and hateful of one another, the wilds saw the domestics as selfish monsters, for they were returning to the ways that had once destroyed the world, while the domestics saw the wilds as primitive beings afraid of progress, they no better than wild animals.

The raven and the wolf spirits grew tired of the destruction and fighting, and sided with the wilds in their ideals, the domestics only capable of further destroying nature. In their anger they marked a tribe of wilds with a curse, they being removed from the sacred circle of life, unable to hunt or grow their own food, their souls never able to move on while their bodies are unable to return to the earth when they died. The curse upon them only broken once the domestics are gone once and for all. The cursed tribe now known to all by the name of the spirits whom cursed them. ‘Raven Wolf'
