I think I might be a little pent up... uuh... yup. So you get another sketch.

Sorry it isn't better. I should do better. I need to do better. I'm tired of half baked, incomplete ideas and sketches, its past time I got to work. I deleted that last sentence, and typed it again, exactly the same. Because I changed my mind about deleting it.

But now I need sleep.

~

EDIT: Crap, I already turned my tablet off, so I'll just note it here to remind myself; future me! For the love of <insert deity of preference here> remember the cool speech bubble idea you JUST had, like... a couple of minutes ago when you were staring blankly at the screen...! It was really cool! Don't forget it! Do it! DOOOOO EEEEET! huh, weird... they both have 5 repeated letters... and it was completely unintentional.

"All systems nominal, captain."

Ok, NOW I'll get some sleep. Someone remind me to check this later and read that reminder... wait... that's not going to work, is it.

I thought about this for some time and a Real hyperdrive you probably would not see anything but blackness because of how the field works. see Philadelphia experiment. that was an example of a real hyperspace effect.

If I've found the right one, it sounds like you're comparing a modern sports car to the discovery -- made by a child jumping up and down on a funny looking, rounded rock to get the attention of his friend on the other side of the village, who then falls on his ass -- that round things roll. Or the resulting invention of the wheel -- a branch for an axle slung between two rounded rocks and tied together with hair and the sinewy of whatever animal they hunt for meant -- to the International Space Station currently in a circular orbit around another, larger, slightly rounded rock.

To put it another way; the other week I was down on the floor playing ball with my cat... and it struck me that because it was night time, the dark green matte surface of the ball did not appear to visibly change as the ball rolled. You know, almost as if it didn't roll at all, and instead moved via some unidentifiable means of locomotion. And I wondered what the cat itself actually thought about the ball, as it rolled aimlessly across the tiles at the lightest touch, its trajectory altering ever so slightly at every groove between the tiles.

But yes, I doubt any real spaceships will even have windows; they would be a rather fatal design flaw and structural weakness, but where's the fun in that? =P
But on the other hand, like the invention of the wheel, and motor engines, the final product of the modern automobile both looks and functions rather differently. Therefore we can assume nothing, and merely propose possibilities.

Oh! But thanks for bringing me back here; haha, I genuinely did forget about my little reminder until just now. Kudos! XD

yes and we all like science fiction with windows otherwise we are Founders in a Jemhaddarr warship.... even our space stations have windows... I know any FTL craft will have a BIG shield in front to prevent the shot gun effect and good luck seeing where your going.....

Oh, however it ends up actually working, I'm sure they'll end up having HD cameras and all sorts of other sensors on the outside, that will merely "simulate" the classic hyperspace effect... like some kind of 3D starfield screensaver. Or, you know, some kind of peaceful woodland scenery or something to make people feel more at home. lol. XP

But thanks for getting me thinking about FTL travel, because I had a fantastic idea today because of it. No spoilers. Its a secret! We'll see if I actually do anything with it, hehehe. ^_^

too true but they might just come up with the Jump Drive and it sidesteps the laws of physics Known as quantum Tunneling... they had this Idea before I suspect this type of drive is what they Already have because one moment they are there the next they are gone. if you go by all the UFO sightings and eye witness accounts.... until some one pair-aids one out for all to see I will stay it is a hoax but there are too many strange stories to date and I have played with an Edison effect machine all you need to make one is Balsa wood thin copper wire and Foil and a 35000volt fence transformer. cool toy and if you make it right It can carry the electronics but good luck getting the Radio controls to work.... tried to make one fly but the RF unit kept burning up due to electrostatic arching. one of the reasons I bought 3D printers to make a flying version.
