Remember Elska? She was the first of the nine playable characters in The Verdant Isle. (See here)
She's still in the game, but it just wasn't working out to make her a party character - some of the reasons, you might see in the game! - so she's been moved to a support character and her party spot has gone to Ktala & Mlinzi!
I've had a written concept sitting around for these girls for probably years and it turns out this game is like the perfect place to shove 'em in, so finally here they are!
They're a Gemaera! "A what???"
The Gemaera (tentative name) are a conjoined race. Ktala is considered to be everything but the tail, which is Mlinzi (yes, she talks.) They have to work together just to move around easily, but by the time they're six a Gemaera pair are usually in perfect sync and these two are no exception.
Well sort of. Ktala at least is incredibly clumsy. It's only when food is at stake, or they get into a fight, that she focuses and the two of them become a horrible dispenser machine of death and sharp pokey bits.
But although Ktala is - to be frank - a headstrong and clueless ditz, Mlinzi is very thoughtful, empathetic, and aware. Mlinzi is, however, also extremely shy and rarely speaks to anyone but her sister, usually to half-heartedly admonish her for her mistakes. Good for the bashful snek that she is almost always naturally placed directly behind Ktala.
As they're replacing Elska, they've inherited her party role of being a physical character and a damage 1st tank 2nd character, as well as her element of wind. However, where Elska's tankiness would be founded on her strength, Ktala and Mlinzi's tankiness are founded on their agility; they're a riskier tank who rely on being very attention-grabbing but also impossible to hit.
The biology of their breathing and eating and stuff is a bit of a nightmare and I think we should talk about that at a later date, like say, after the sun implodes.
As I said earlier, this is an early design. They'll probably be touched up or changed in the next few images, possibly giving Ktala some different (more) clothes and a place to hold her weapons, and some change or another to Mlinzi's appearance, but this is 80~90% what they'll look like!
