There may come times where I find an old image's working file and just. kind of. resume working on it. 'cause I wasn't happy with how it turned out but don't feel like doing a whole new image just yet.
Now let me explain why I did that with this one.
Elytra / Edelweiss is a changeling queen OC of mine created for a now-defunct-so-far-as-I-know Friendship is Magic RP (PG-13). Since leaving the RP I've been interested in converting her to an original character, like I do with most of my other fan characters because I find good characters who stay fan characters to be a waste of potential (as original work has less restrictions both creatively and legally.)
Edelweiss will be appearing in her anthropomorphic Elae Meltaea form as one of the party characters of The Verdant Isle. In preparation for this, I went back and messed with her old being-an-MLP-character picture.
She was always meant to be albinistic, but albinism does not necessarily affect every tissue and is not necessarily the same in a changeling as it is in a human or another animal, so back then I kept her with the dark coloring of other changelings. (We also had a nega-world with white changelings and I didn't want to be confusing.)
I've now decided to make her pale because 1. it makes her more clearly albinistic 2. it makes her features (which I've edited) show up better 3. her species / sisters will be all sorts of colors so I wanted to experiment with colors for her anyway and 4. there is a 73.486% chance that she'll be a daughter of Anansi, who happens to have these same colors. Maybe Anansi is also albinistic? I DON'T KNOW, I JUST LOVE ADORABLE PALE LADIES.
Along with the color change, I've adjusted her face. I had originally intentionally made her semi-ugleh as most changelings are, but now she is much cuter. I like her a lot, she looks snuggly.
Oh. And I'm kind of just. Ignoring the mothified changelings thing. I don't really like the idea or the designs or anything
