Doesn't it behoove us to accept criticism so far as to at least evaluate out own positions and ensure were honest about why, how, and the results were going about to achieve.
Not everyone that speaks up is trying to ruin another.

I'm not sure I read you right, but if I were deserving of punishment for anything, I'd prefer to administer it myself. No doctor I've met yet has better understood me than me. And they kill people.
I'm rarely deserving of punishment tho. cats have it easy I suppose, I just laze around all day, wathcing the raccoons and such...
I don't engage in activities that are so dangerous as to make others want to make me "pay"
I alos don't smoke cigarettes, so theres a lot of significant differences in tiny things. So maybe I just didn't read you right :)

I mean "revenge" has always been a thing I'd prefer to avoid from all angles. The idea of being prepared for it is weird to me. like "And meet my friend Pauley, he's the bloke I pay to beat the shit out of folks who try to screw me". I just assumed that stuff is fictional.

I could be wrong, but the expression "make you pay" means in this context "will hurt you for it as "retaliation" ." The thing is, not all retaliations are suitable / fair punishments. As a matter of fact, the mere existence of some by itself is downright unfair: for instance, imagine being given life sentence for minor littering: disproportionate retribution, way harsher than it should be. Now imagine being fined for telling the truth, especially when you were SPECIFICALLY ASKED TO DO SO. Now that's just uncalled for completely. The thing us, the latter case happens commonly nowadays - and i believe Roarey meant something about that, based on his previous rants - about people hurting others who did nothing harmful or bad.

Yes, making someone pay is an idiom that means to hurt, usually in the context of vengeance. In this case, vengeance for disliking someone's opinion or joke XP. Utterly ludicrous as a concept but for all that, it is remarkably common.

I think people are just angry, and they can't take their anger out on the real enemies in their life, so they invent enemies out of other people so they can lash out at someone.
I'm not excusing their behavior, it's bad for two reasons, one for their misplaced rage and two for their victimization of another person in the process, keeping the cycle of misery going.

my philosophy (when in a non professional environment) if what you do normally offends someone else, they weren't meant to be in your life anyway, so who cares.
