Peeps seemed fine with me shoving out some old work, so here's the first of some stuff!
I did concept art and editing for a small card game, and there was a add-on deck that was planned, so I did the art for all the cards in 2015, but it eventually got dropped, sadly.
That said, it's.... kinda jarring to see my first forays into digital art software. hahaha I see so much I'd do differently!!
The flowering tree is based on Delonix regia, known in Vietnam as phượng vĩ (phoenix’s tail). I really just wanted something red to contrast with Jade’s green. I also wanted to play with clouds (a la the wet monsoon~) and the change in color as the sun sets, as well as show off Jade’s wind abilities (via the floating-while-sleeping image).
Bruh, this shit really didn't come out bad at all! I can certainly see how you've improved over time, but I'mma be honest with you... I love the way you did the coloring here juuuuust a bit more than the way you do it these days. x3 Like, okay, I really like the watercolor aesthetic you go for - it's really unique, and you always execute it so well. However, in this, they're a lot brighter and more vibrant, and to me, that just generally looks more appealing than when colors are blended together. I don't want this comment to be taken as me saying "you should do this," because it's your shit, and I want you to do it your way, and if it were a choice I had between your recent stuff and this, I'd pick your recent stuff in your style any day of the week. Maybe just take this as some food for though, I guess. :)

Honestly? I see a lot of bad blending (I legit had no idea how to blend with the digital tools) and some proportion issues (that stretched arm is too long!). I think that's what sticks out to me the most xD
Hahaha Naw, I can understand. This was originally my attempt to match the original game's color style, and I used it to explore lines and such... Even if you did like this style more than my current, that wouldn't bug me. I think I like my current style more just because it feels like it goes against what a lot of furry artists use? An emphasis on thicker, dark lines with light colors and such. :D
Of course I say that, bu now I find I'm edging towards this style again, where I'm using more layers to add darker tones and shadows to things, so perhaps I'll find myself in more middle ground. xD

I didn't even notice the arm thing. x3 Just kinda figured he was really hanging on with it, 'cuz I used to be quite the monkey as a kid, and I always seem to remember hanging from stuff with an overly-stretched arm. Maybe I just have some weird double-jointed deformity, but even now that you mention it, it still looks normal for me, lol.
