'Epee' is a type of dueling sword and the word is used here to emphasize that the kick is heavy, hard and the attack affects the entire opponents body (hence causing the opponent to fly high in the air). Unlike the previous pic (D. Dan High Kick Colored) where the opponent is kicked straight up in the air, the kick shown here kicks them forward much like a quarterback kicking a football for a long distance three pointer into the end zone. LOL.
The word 'Shofu' means 'Rising Wind' and I got the idea for the name from a move I once saw on the anime Naruto. The move in question was the 'Konoha Shofu' (Leaf Rising Wind) preformed by Rock Lee in one of the seasons I was watching at the time I drew the original line art to this picture. http://www.narutohq.com/taijutsu.php is the link I got the name of the move from (located near the middle of the list) in case anyone is interested and such. LOL. ^\/^.
I must admit I keep changing D. Dan's outfit and, from looking at this oldie, I can see I have changed it rather much since this time last year. LOL. ^\/^.
The background is much like the others I have been doing to emulate the look of D. Dan being in a high definition fighting game where he is doing a special attack of some sort. I even added one of those circular things that show up when a hit is made and stays there so that one can see where the hit was made while the opponent flies. It is kind of like in this screen capture http://www.my360.com.au/img/game/Tekken-6-6.jpg where my homeboy King is pwning his opponent. LOL. ^\/^.
To think back in the day I intended to have those designs around his waist, boots and gloves to be just plain gold in color. Now it looks spiffy in those blues and purples showing some nice design elements to the otherwise plain Celtic knot work design. LOL. ^\/^.
