D. Dan, in short, is doing and extremely high side kick. Such a kick would send the opponent flying high. I got the idea for the picture a long time ago while watching Naruto in an episode where Rock Lee did a kind of extreme high kick on Sasuke Uchiha sending him flying high in the air. Rock Lee is my favorite character on the show and I wanted D. Dan to kick as high as Rock Lee in a picture. So I made this one as a kind of kudos to Rock Lee. Plus, at the same time, I was trying to think of D. Dan's fighting style beyond the use of a sword and I was going for physical strikes that can be used with or with out the sword in hand. A large number of different kick attacks seemed to make sense, along with a few one handed jabs and punches. LOL. ^\/^.
To help show speed, movement and power I made a background with a radial gradient centered on the kick. I also lined it so the hot colors would be in the wake of the kick making it look like it left a trail of fire, like in some 2D fighting games with some characters. LOL. ^\/^.
I also gave it a zoom blur so that it gives a subtle arc going down from the foot and not just straight lines. I did the same thing with a second layer that was a copy of the main one with a chrome filter and soft lighting special blend. That is the layer that gives that nice white streak part. I centered that one on the midsection though and it was a radial blur. LOL. ^\/^.
The sword is glowing much in the same way as the one in the previous picture. I left all the other layers as plain colors to better differentiate itself form the background and sword. The feathers are given a slight Gaussian blur though to make them more soft and less sharp in look so as to seem more natural, to a degree. LOL. ^\/^.
Other wise a simple drawing with simple coloring. I could do more, but, then again, I could do much more with essentially every other drawing I have. The only things I seem to lack are time, patience, initiative, interest and a number of other things that would otherwise impair myself from doing much more. Such a thing tends to impair a number of others I am sure. LOL. ^\/^.
