I saw Rescuers during what I think was its second round in theaters, about 1982 or '83. Then I didn't see it again until like 2007 when I bought the DVD and I was like, "Holy shit, that movie is awesome!" Being 25 years older and knowing more about animation and such, I couldn't believe how good it actually was. I don't know why they call that period a low point for Disney, I thought some of their more interesting stuff came out of that era. Yes, a lot of the animation of that period was scratchy and dark, but the United States WAS scratchy and dark in the 1970s.
