Revenge for the innocent
Draco Sighed softly as he paced outside of the medical wing of the castle as he was worried to no end about about prince that was bedridden and nearly dead. The image of the blood that surrounded Maxwell as well as the glass in his back that he could see in feel punctured into his back was burned into his memories as he sighed, feeling responsible about it, like he had caused it. As he paced, Drax rushed over to the medical wing and looked at Draco, worried, just like they would’ve expected. “So, Drazernon actually did attack the kingdom? And no one was expecting it. Damnit, how did this happen. Is Maxwell okay?” The worried father looked at Draco and waited for an answer, but Draco just looked away and shook his head, unable to even open his mouth, at fear of some form of pain leaving his mouth.
Drax shook a bit as he was scared to lose another son as he walked himself into the room and saw Maxwell hooked up to many different machines and had bandages wrapped all around his abdomen and arms, almost his whole body. He saw that sitting next to the bed was a jar of glass and blood, every shard that they had pulled from his body was currently in there, and he knew just how fatal it would be. If it weren’t for the neverending sound of the beeping from the monitor, he would’ve thought that Maxwell was dead, but luckily he was alive, if only barely. He walked over to his sons bed and gently kneeled beside it as he placed a paw on his son's head and sighed softly, leaning in to gentle kiss his forehead, a couple tears leaving his eyes as he looked at his defenseless, pained son. “I wish I had gone instead of you. It’s my fault that you’re in the position, and now all I can do is watch and have nothing but guilt for letting you go alone. I should’ve gone along instead.” Drax said somberly as he wiped his eyes a bit and sat in a chair next to the bed.
As soon as he sat, Saria walked in and sighed heavily. “He should be okay, but there’s no telling how long it will be before he will wake up again. I luckily had the proper material to make sure he didn’t die from blood loss and was able to clean him up and remove the glass, but even with all of that working in him, I wish I could say when he will reawaken. It could be days, weeks… dreadfully even months before he opens his eyes. Let’s hope for the latter.” Saria felt a heavy burden on her heart as she looked at the prince, she was trained in medical works, and even then she felt useless. She saved the life of the prince, but she felt worthless not knowing when he will reawaken to the world. All she could do was wait as she goes out of the room to leave Drax alone with his son, gripping her arm weakly as she felt sad.
Once the room was empty and silent, the king placed his head in his claws and did his best to control his emotions, a lot of pain circling in his heart right now as he watched his son lying there. His heart hurt more thinking of what he’d tell Nomad is Maxwell never wakes up, because that was also her son lying there, and she would be distressed if she had to hear this. Drax looked at his eldest son and shook his head softly as he looked him over. Even if no one caused it except Drazernon, there was something about the situation that made the king feel guilt for his sons suffering, even if he didn’t do anything. Drax decided he would stay in there for the day and took his seat to make it more comfortable.
Outside of the room, Draco had already been told of what was going to happen and left the room to th regular guards, there was nothing else he could do at this point. Draco decided it was best to just go and relax his mind some as he grabbed his sword and walked to the training room. On the way he saw Marz looking around for his father, he knew what had happened but was curious as to why he wasn’t informed by his father or retainers. “Draco have you seen my father?” he asked curiously, Draco stopping in his tracks and turning.
“His majesty probably wants to be alone right now with Maxwell. I know you must want to see your brother but for now it’s probably for the better we just let the King have some silence with Maxwell.” Draco told him gently and surprisingly comforting, which wasn't something one would expect from the dragon, considering how harsh and cruel tempered he was most of the time.
Marz took that as a sign of now pushing his luck with anything and just nodded as he sighed a bit, following Draco down to the training room since he had nothing better to do with his time. One they entered the training room, they saw Millia finally back up on her feet, she was doing some basic stretches, and showing Draga and Lynx how to do them to help the young soldiers loosen up. “Alright guys, when you hear the popping his when you know you’re on your limit, from there that means you’re ready to start your practice.”
Draco immediately dropped his sword and nearly his jaw as he saw his partner so easily back on her feet and already back on the training grounds. He knew that Millia was a powerful person but sometimes the things she did was just to ridiculous even for him and he was deadly. “Millia? You’re already back up?” He said as he walked over and smiled as he goes to touch her shoulder to see if the scarring was still there. Upon being touched, she gasped and immediately winced as she grabbed his arm and immediately threw Draco into a wall covered with training dummies.
Millia gasped and rushed over “Draco! Don’t sneak up on me like that you idiot.” She called him idiot in a joking manner as she rushed to help him stand, and smiled warmly. “Yes I am back on my feet, but my shoulder is entirely still singed, and you shouldn’t have touched it. You should know that as a dragon that fire stays on a person even after it’s put out.” She softly lectured, before quickly helping him stand and hugging him close.
“I’m glad that you’re alright Millia, but damn you’re aim is still impressive, even with a scarred arm.” Draco groaned and hugged her back, standing up and looked at the three young soldiers watching with goofy grins. “Any remarks out of any of you and I'll work you till you can’t walk straight.” He warned, as Draco was known for having strict training styles, making all three boys stop with the looks, but Marz couldn’t help but giggle softly, as Draco just rolled his eyes.
“Alright enough of the idle chatter, let’s get serious, Lync and Draga, I want you guys working on your speed, so I want both of you to run the distance of the training room twice, and after that we will have a bit of sparring.” Millia instructed, as Draga and Lynx listened to the her words, nodding quickly.
Draco saw them and heard there plan, before nodding and looking at Marz. “Guess we shouldn’t hold off any work, let's do the same thing.” He told the prince, getting mixed reactions as Marz wanted to do it to no get rusty, but due to his age he was half wanting to be bratty and not do it. Seeing the look of authority in Draco’s eyes though made him not fight back as he goes to Lynx and Draga, and within seconds, they were running the course given to them by the two knights, Draco running as well. Do to his experience and age, he was much faster than them and was already gaining a lead.
Draga saw and was impressed, a smile cracking across his face. “There’s a challenge for us.” He stated and did his best to push himself, slowly gaining on the dragon knight, surprising everyone in the room except for Eeyruuad.
After a few moments of running, all four of them stopped running and were catching their breath. Millia smiled and went and got them all some water, showing her more caretaker side over her instructor side as she made sure they were all getting what they needed while they caught their breathes, considering they ran the equivalent of half a mile, and for a first time it was tiring. Eeyruuad and Camillimara walked up after the training and turned back into swords for Draga, as he stood before the others who all watched in surprise.
“Oh, right. I guess we never really had a chance for proper introductions. I’m Draga, and these are my swords Eeyruuad, the grumpy one, and Camillimara, the motherly one. They’re from a species of anthros that can turn their bodies into weapons, and both have immense power.” Draga introduced himself and the weapons, getting a grumble from Eeyruuad and a chuckle from Camillimara, while Draco, Marz and Lynx introduced themselves, still intrigued by the weapons.
Millia smiled as she walked up again and had her sword ready. “Alright guys, no we are gonna start doing some sparring. Since there is five of us, I have gone and asked one of the knights to come and help us out. It will be Me and Lynx, Marz and Draga, and Draco and the special knight. And here she is.” She said as the doors opened and Saria walked in clad in full armor and had a spear in her hands. Aside from magic, Saria was also very capable in wielding heavy weaponry, getting a shocked look from Marz and Draco as they knew her but never actually knew about her weapon choice.
The armor made Saria look much more intimidating than her usual cute and soft look, as Draco chuckled nervously. “You did this on purpose didn’t you Millia?” He asked as he looked at his partner who gave a sly smile and an innocent wink.
“I don;t know what you mean Draco, I just asked out friend Saria to help me out, that is all.” She giggled as she walked over to the side lines. “Since she is here, let us not waste her time any more than we already have, Draco and Saria will go first.” She said and watched as Saria got ready. After a couple of deep breathes, Draco walked over and watched, not exactly ready but he wasn’t going to back down. For now, he drew his sword and was ready for the match.
