hmmm i thinks they did a mass island wide fumigation... which made the place uninhabitable. so they had to leave, at least temporarily, which makes kenny and death lucky because its nearing the time deemed safe by the estimates, which were evidently high,,, also appears the tent blew off or was deemed unnecessary. one of the two. /speculation.

Obviously you've never seen Serenity, short breakdown, you change one thing in the environment for what ever reason their are drastic consequences. In this case they got rid of all the cats, now what would have free rein if they got rid of the cats? Disease carrying rats and such. Those same rats wouldn't stay on an island with no food and would move on after anything eatable was gone. Now since the government in their wisdom wiped out all the cats, the rats took over, killed the other populations, then left the island.
