Teddy's Olympic Scratchoff
Havre de Grace, Maryland. 1978. Juan did not shown up for work like he usually does. Rosa also left work way early to look for him. She had run into the deep alley, when a mysterious hooded furson approached her.

Something bothering you, ma'am?
I'm just trying to look for my husband. He didn't show up for work. Maybe if I--
Now, now, sweets. Let's play a little game instead.

He reaches in his jacket and pulls out a book of cards.

Pick one. Go ahead.

Rosa was hesitant, but she reached and pulled a card from the book. It was the Queen of Hearts.

That was no guess. Pick another.

She reached for another card. This time, it was the King of Hearts. She had just remembered: a King card and a Queen card together are symbolic of a romantic couple, and in the Hearts suit, the pair was nicknamed "Valentine's Day." Now she really sensed something. Holding the two cards in one hand, Rosa removed the dark figure's hood to find that it was...Juan el Ratón! He had skipped work just for this little ditty. She was surprised and delighted.

Happy anniversary, mi amor.

They both knew well that they get a real kick out of hearing one another speak Spanish or Portuguese. She wrestled him to the ground and they began making love just moments later.

---

Once again, I am a day early.
