We had Marine Biology, however it wasn't a required course to take during high school. It was grouped in with classes like Algebra 3 (Algebra and Trigonometry) and Calculus. It was taught by the Biology teacher so it felt more like an extra 2 hours there to be honest. I think they just called it Extra Curriculum classes..

I was abominable in Physical Education (which I assume is the equivalent of the US 'Gym class'). I was by far the weakest person in the class, and the only one that couldn't swim either. Punishment for not having our PE uniform (or just not participating) was in the form of rewriting printed notes by hand. I was punished for not being able to swim (which, to be fair, is something that all kids in New Zealand generally learn), but I actually preferred the punishment, despite how boring it was.
We had this thing could a 150+ test -- we had to do a certain number of activities, e.g. squat jumps, climbing a rope, chin-ups, sprints, etc. and in both years I had to do PE I had the lowest score (about 75), which I think the lowest score the teacher had ever seen.
