A little about magic here.
Mages are VERY rare in this world and are either feared, working for someone powerful, or both!
It takes a-lot of energy on the mage's part to bend or break the laws of physics. In most stories that I have read, mages seem to have limitless power and suffer no ill effects from exerting all this power. Thus, I find stories with "God like" characters to be boring.
Not so here in this story my friends. There is a price to be paid for everything a character gains in this story!
