Wave was right. Someone did mess with her original plans. Perhaps they were stolen and replaced with faulty ones by someone who has technical knowledge rivaling her. Perhaps this individual simply desired to be the only tech person that could be relied upon by his team since Tails is on the other team. I'm having a hard time thinking of someone who'd be both smart enough and evil enough to orchestrate the downfall of their own team member like that though. Oh well.
