Zephyr and Fred were too nervous about seeing what was behind that door. They didn't want to find out if what was behind there is what caused that loud sound they heard earlier. So they decided to head toward the light. When they got to the source it was the end of the tunnel. Giant steel doors closed the subway line from here. Fred guessed decommissioned train cars were pushed threw them, that's why they saw one earlier.
To the right was a door with a fallout shelter icon above it. To the left was another passage way.
