"I really think your cool and I really appreciate you coming with me. I feel much safer. But we just met. I think if we explore some more and talk then maybe I'd feel better about that idea." Zephyr said as he met eyes with the handsome g-shep teen.
Fred was surprised at how grown up the little boy sounded. It melted his heart to hear someone else say such nice things about him. For now this was fine. He would take more time to seduce the birdy. If they did ended up messing around, Fred thought it would make it even better if Zephyr was as into it as he was.
"Sounds good, 'lil buddy." He said smiling and ruffled the crow boy's head feathers.
They searched around the out-of-service sub car but didn't see anything of interest. Checking his map, Zephyr pointed to the east tunnel as the one most likely to lead them in the right direction. Off they went down the large, dark, tunnel. This was definitely an abandoned sub line. It seemed ancient even though it was probably not more than 60 years old.
Suddenly a loud clack and bang sound echoed down the tunnel toward them. Zephyr and Fred gasped in surprise. Zephyr grabbing Fred around the waist and hugging him tight.
"What was that?!" Zephyr asked, pointing the flashlight down the tunnel.
"I have no idea. That was freaky!" Fred responded.
After a pause they continued down the tunnel. They thought they could see a faint light further down the tunnel so they continued walking for quite some time. As they walked they talked about their brothers and sisters, school, video games, and the best practical jokes to play on friends. They found out they had more in common than they thought for being such different species with different cultural backgrounds.
They squinted to see if they could make out where the light was coming from as they got closer. But then Fred noticed an old rusty door on the right side of the tunnel wall. He rubbed the dusty, dirt covered plate on it revealing, "Maintenance Access". The lock looked like it had been bashed in.
