I'm not gonna lie. I added this guy in specifically because I realized this "Christmas Countdown" is missing a lot of Christmas spirit! So I added in a character who literally has a Christmas variant to his look... but that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a legitimate spot on this list! NiGHTS is one of my favorite, underrated game characters of all time; in fact I used to draw him a lot, but I just slowly drew away from it, still the overall charm of this character pulls me back from time to time.
While NiGHTS sadly falls into obscurity, I've always found the overall appeal of this game to be strong. It's probably just because I'm obsessed with the look jesters, NiGHTS was one of the major inspirations for my own jester character, Lafayette, so much so that I had to make sure he didn't end up looking too much like him! I think I succeeded.
The concept of dreams is always something I find interesting, it's probably why alternatively, Freddy Krueger is one of my favorite villains. However, I always feel the concept is never fully executed well in that dream worlds are often depicted as too bound by logic, an issue I feel that the NiGHTS games still struggle with but I do really like how they make the worlds look like an MC Esher wet dream... or something like that. All I know is I really want more NiGHTS material, even if I know that's about as likely to happen as another Darkstalkers game... but then gain, they just recently made a new Bubsy game so... anything is possible when you really dream it!
