Bonnie and Clyde, eat your heart out. There's a new gang in town, and these ladies will steal your cash, your heart and your false teeth, too! You can bet your life they don't intend to come quietly, either.

A wonderful gift from my very dear friend rabbitfangs who spoils me rotten! She's such a sweetie!

Better watch out, boys, don't mess with these dames!
These femme fatale ladies aren't playin' games!
Don't let your guard down!
Or you'll be mown down!
Tommy and Colt will send you to your graves!

This is lovely, dear Megan. And just the other day I bought my brother L.A. Noire for his stocking, so this fits in perfectly with my Christmas shopping. :3

I can see I'm going to have to hire you to write descriptions for me! Except for the 1967 Bonnie and Clyde film and A Piece of the Action, my knowledge of Depression era gangsters is pretty limited. But this is quite a lovely picture, and I think the girls look gorgeous in those outfits, too. I'm glad that this could coincidentally coincide with your Christmas shopping, too.

Gotta love that vintage 1930's picture. The artist even got the film grain right. Outstanding!

Too funny, one of my outfits on SecondLife is the classic gagster pinstriped suit.
And I have a Thompson drum-fed machine gun. Although, it IS pink and shoots hearts. ;-)

It was part of a club I ran called "Al Capone's Vault."

I love the idea of a pink Tommy gun that shoots hearts. That's beautiful!

I'm sure you look amazing in those striped suits, too!

The Tommy Gun started out as a weapon for the US army in WW2, and fetured a long, stright magazien. The Drum style Mags were only avaliable for the Civilian version of the gun. Biggest problem this gun had was that it jammed easily, and was ungodly inacurate due to the recoile, which is Ironic since one of it's Nick Names is the Chicago Typewriter.

I knew this already, but thanks! Actually, General Thompson started work on the prototype of what would become the Thompson submachine gun during the late phases of World War One, but the war ended before he was able to get the prototype weapon shipped to Europe. It was originally meant to be used in trench warfare for clearing out enemy trenches. While I am opposed to warfare in almost every instance on moral grounds, I've always thought it was kind of a shame that this weapon has been associated more with criminals and mobsters than the legitimate armed forces it was originally designed for.

While my primary interest has always been ancient/medieval European history, I've always had a fascination with the first 20 years or so of the 20th Century. More, if you count a deep fascination with both the US and Soviet space programs, particularly the race to the moon.

Your welcome n_n . And ya, a lot of the weapons and what not that got used in WW2 were left overs from WW1. And one event in perticuler made sure the Tommy Gun was forever cemented forever in the history of the gangster. The St. Vslentines Day Massacure. The ironic thing about the gun is that it's not hard to get, even today. What is hard to find for them, is the cleaning kits. They destoyed more of thoses thenbthey did the guns after the war.

And I actually know a funny story about the Space Race. At first, the US wasn't trying to put a man on the moon. They were working on launching a nuke at it. True story.

I suppose that the good side of their associating with gangsters and the like is that this has meant they've also been preserved as part of popular culture, making more people concerned with preserving the real life weapons as well. Gun aren't my thing, but something with that kind of historical relevance should be looked after.

As for the nukes, I'd believe it. There was a time when we were absolutely in love with nuclear energy in this country, particularly in the 50s. I'm amazed we managed to survive that century at all. Plus I think the United States would have done damn near anything back then if they thought it would give them an edge over the Soviet Union.

Exactly n_n . I mean heck, they're even featured in Video Games today, like Fallout 4 n_n . I for one think it's important for people to learn from history. Otherwise we're just going to make the same mistakes over and over again.

That's exactly why they wanted to do it too  because the russians had beaten us into space with Sputnick. Fortently, the two scientist who were in charge of the project talked them out of it and convinced them to put a man on the moon instead n_n . One of thoses scientists was named Carl Sagen n_n .
