you know,,,,,i'd love it his dad was not abusive as in beat him or anything, but tremendously strict, and potty mouthed. but maybe that's just me trying to find more reasons to hate cooper, sorry, but, i just dont like the guy. THAT WAS THE WRITER'S IDEA, I ASSUME. and he nailed it. i see cooper as the only one to blame for whatever happens to himself.

My dad is like that. Spanked me once when i was 7 for pulling my cousins hair. Only had to raise his voice ever since. He curses like a sailor, but he never raises a hand to anyone.

mine did that too. not all dads are abusive as in hitting their kids, some are very strict and old fahsioned, that does not make them abusive. and agian, i'd love cooper's dad were not the "ill beat cha cus i hate cha" cliché dad, PERSONAL OPINION AND NOT TRYING TO MESS ON THE STORY, but again....victimizing cooper, for me, is excusing what a douche he is on the other story, and that i never liked. he has no real reasons to be the way he is other than, he wanted to be like that. but, let's see how this story goes on ad see what happens.

I completely agree with you Dorado. Everyone is freaking out that Cooper has been a jerk but in reality what he has done is not that bad. Everyone is practically wanting to hang the kid for being a kid almost like he murdered someone or something. Chill out people, he really isn't "that" bad. I for one hope Cooper turns out to be a really good guy and I have suspicions that he actually isn't that bad of a dude, just had a shitty deck to play with and lashed out at the wrong people cause he didn't have anywhere else to send those emotions. Of course as a bully he would lash out on Andy... Andy probably made him think of himself. Andy was weaker than him and different as well as actually kind to him. People who aren't used to others being kind to them will usually lash back with anger and frustration. On top of that, Andy being weaker than him probably reminded him too much of what he actually was, just a weak pup with likely an abusive father in which he is incapable of doing anything about it. No one deserves abusive parents dudes, not even a bully. We'll see when the next slides are released if my suspicions are correct and Cooper's dad is abusive. Even then, Coopers crimes aren't THAT terrible... no need to persecute him to death.

Everyone is commenting about how is dad is cussing. I honestly don't see the issue. Maybe if he was younger, but he's not. Just because someone cusses a lot doesn't mean they're inherently physically abusive. I've had adults cussing at me when they're mad since I was in 6th or 7th grade and I turned out just fine. Hell, me being in the navy, I've got one hell of a sailors mouth, myself. It's just what some people do. Cooper screwed up, and his dad's pissed.

I'd also add that remarking "you'd better have a good fuckin' reason for makin' me drive out to the middle a'nowhere" suggests that he doesn't care much for his son, and that Cooper was probably only at camp because his dad doesn't want to deal with him anyway.
Certainly doesn't seem the type to expect letters from camp, that's for sure.

I see your point ^~^ But, I would like to say if I had a kid and they pulled something like this, I would be livid! I work 10 hours a day, I don't have time to come gut you because you decided to do something stupid. Just because he was mad because he had to come get his kid, doesn't mean he doesn't care about him.
Also, sorry for "stirring the pot" as it were. Not trying to cause trouble ^~^.

I'm was just playing devils advocate, like I said I've been cussed at most of my life, and I'm fine. I get that some people take it differently than others. Scolding your child and screaming obscenities at them on a constant basis are two completely different things, that's all I'm saying. Coops father could be upset that he had to waste gas to get his child, who disrupted camp in a negative way. I see it more as the father is annoyed that his son, who is normally supposed to behave, was so disruptive and disrespectful that he had to come get him. Granted, the artist could take it any direction he wants and I'll still have the same views. Again, cussing and constantly yelling AND cussing are two completely different things, trust me, I've been through the ladder.
Sorry for the long post, I just felt that my post need some clearing up. And I would like to state that I don't advocate child abuse, verbal or physical, because I've been through that myself, just tryna get my opinions out there. Love ya all ^~^

Considering that it was meant to be a funny prank, and his "friends" put him up to it, and he originally declined before being pressured into it, I think that him being stuck in a car with his dad is punishment enough. From the looks of it, I'm expecting Cooper's dad to continue interrupting when Cooper tries to explain, and to jump to conclusions and further punishment as soon as Cooper says anything incriminating. That's a much shittier situation than Cooper's "friends" and Andy are in.
So Cooper's dad won't learn about Cooper's "friends" putting him up to it, Cooper's going to be punished as if he's an unsympathetic monster who gets his jollies from harmful pranks, Andy will be stuck with Cooper's "friends" without Cooper to moderate/dalay their abusive goals, and any apology Cooper offers to Andy will be forced instead of having a chance at being genuine. Hopefully Andy finds out about the bullies behind the bully and word fets to Cooper's dad. But based on the situation at the start of The Internship, I'm expecting Cooper's dad to double down with "it doesn't matter, you're still grounded" and Cooper to become mad at Andy for snitching on his "friends" (getting them in trouble), leading Cooper to double down on being a bully to Andy as seen in The Internship.
So, yeah, if this comic goes anywhere close to how I'm imagining, then I think you'll be quite satisfied at Cooper's punishment being substantial enough.

Cooper isn't a great guy, but I've got relatives worse than him so... I mean, I feel like a heart felt apology is owed here and if that happens, that is awesome. He by no means needs to be hung, but he does need to fess up for his mistakes.
