That isn't funny. They butcher whites in South Africa. Often when South American whites seek asylum in other countries they are denied so they can bring in ethnic refugees instead. These ethnic refugees often to not face the kind of horror that South African whites face. Car tires full of petrol gasoline chained around their neck, beaten untill they light the gasoline in the tire on fire just to end their pain. Brutal rapes and dismemberment. Loss of their right to be treated as a human, killed on site. These are but a few of the horrors South African whites face IN THEIR OWN HOME COUNTRY. They founded Rhodesia and by founded I mean they acquired a barren track of land and built it up as a bastion of peace and prosperity. On all sides they came to be surrounded by war. They too the black South Africans into their country as refugees from the chaos that is natural to South Africa. Soon more blacks existed in a country founded by white people. I must remind you they took barren land that no south African knew how to live on. Let me remind you that they were not recognised as a country by the international community. Let me remind you that Palestine is also not recognised as a country by the international community. Let me remind you that Israel is an artificially created country that stole land from Palestine with the help of the United nations. Israel stole their land and homes from the Palestine yet they are granted full protection. Israel is a country that can rightfully be described as a nation founded on theft. Rhodesia was a country peacefully founded on land the locals abandoned due to their own inability to live there. The white native population of Rodasia, who had lived in Rodasia for generations, were pushed out by black South Africans and butchered by the likes of Robert Mugabe! I doubt you understand the complex and horrific nature of the situation when you made your joke. Yeah it's quite the unfortunate stance on things. I used to preach a lot about equality between all races and genders but being told off and mistreated by the groups I was speaking out for and trying to help really made me just dislike everyone equally. I'm all about the individual now. I hate everyone until they prove to me they're worth liking. Misanthropy at it's finest XD

"African Americans" is much too specific. What about black people not in America? What about Latinos? While "colored" is seen as racially charged in the U.S, It is the accented name for a specific race in South Africa. It really doesn't seem like the worst general term for people who aren't white. Of course, generalizing people into white vs non-white is somewhat problematic, but something that both racists and "anti-racists" are equally guilty of.

In the U.S., and I am presuming also in Canada, the term "coloured" is a disrespectful term that is in reference to people of African descent.
In many African countries, like in reference to a particular race of South Africans, the term "coloured" refers to a person who is part white and part black, and does not refer to a person who is 100% black, 100% white or 100% any other race. It is not considered in those countries as a disrespectful term.

I've never been to Brazil, but I knew some folks from Brazil who use to run a restaurant I use to go to a lot (the food was really good, and the home made pastries and deserts were out of this world). One day they had a soccer game live from Brazil on the large screen television at the restaurant, and I noticed there were some African-Brazilians on their home team. I had mentioned that I was not aware that Brazil's population consisted of any black people. The owner of the restaurant told me black folks had lived in Brazil for decades, and that the country's population does consider race as being no different from whether you have blue or brown eyes, blond or red or black hair, if you got freckles, short or tall, skinny or fat, etc. He said the issue of there being different races in Brazil is no where near like it is in the U.S.

I hate that we even have race as a concept. It's just a skin color that doesn't mean anything in grander picture. Racism and identity politics are just based on how one looks, which is such an arbitrary thing to separate by.
