Oh Ronaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldo... what a wonderful blight in people's lives you are. I know that everyone hates you, but I love you, you crazed man-child! I'll admit straight away, I don't dislike Steven Universe while at the same time I'm not it's biggest fan. I steered away from the series for a long time due to it's toxic fanbase but last year I gave it a shot and I really liked it. I found that the series mainly gets praise for a lot of the wrong reasons, or elements that are nowhere near as prevalent as people give it credit for. At it's heart, it's pretty charming and funny series... that suffers from terrible pacing and anti-climactic resolutions. However, I still find entertainment in it despite that and at the core of that... is this fellow!
I'm acutely aware of the fact that Ronaldo is reviled among the fans of Steven Universe, but from the very second this guy had an episode to his name, I loved him. I think primarily because I've known so many people like him, either personally or from wack jobs on the internet. He is one of the best spoofs of insane conspiracy theorists ever. He's also the best spoof of Steven Universe's fanbase ever, which is, of course, why he's so hated. Which is a shame. The ability to laugh at one's self is sadly lacking these days; but fuck it, I don't care. I find the overt mockery of uptight people that think they're special little snowflakes to be hilarious and I wait anxiously for every new Ronaldo episode to come out and so should you, because lord knows every ounce of excitement gets bled out of this series, the least we can do is laugh!
I also just realized that my first and possibly only fanart of Steven Universe is of the least favorite character in the entire series... I would have it no other way. Wow! I really sound like I hate this show don't I? I don't... honestly... I just kinda wish epic plot points would quit getting derailed or ending abruptly! It just seems little convenient that it keeps happening... almost TOO convenient! Could it all be an elaborate ruse to lull us in with promises of epic action, only to let us down so that the Snake People in charge of Cartoon Network can feed off our disappointment!?
