Chaos: A Broken Family

The night of the divorce

The Earth was sleeping and mother nature continued to cry. From a large window, a purple hedgehog looked through the glass that separated her from the outside. Heartbroken after the events that occurred earlier. Her eldest son went off to live with his father, leaving Aleena and the two other children at the castle.

“Why couldn’t I do anything to let him stay?” Aleena pondered as she walked over to her drawer in the middle of her room. She grabbed the bottle filled with a syrup colored liquid and poured it into a small glass cup. “This should help me forget this for a while.”

She gulped the cup dry and set it down. She refilled it again. Then again. And again. And again, until nothing was left.

She laid down on her bed. She rocked her head side to side, a hazy smile growing as she giggled to herself.

“I could get used to this.”

In the kids' room

Sonia and Manic were tucked in bed but weren’t in the land of slumber. They couldn’t sleep.

“Sonia?” Manic called out. “Yeah?” Sonia responded. “Why do you think Chaos left?” Manic questioned. He was the youngest out of the triplets, so he wasn’t so smart on catching onto things.

“How am I supposed to know? All I know is that dad didn’t even bother with trying to get us to live with him.” Sonia turned her away from looking at Manic. “Are you mad at them?” Manic questioned. “I guess so. I just wish dad would pay more attention to us than him.” Sonia stated before closing her eyes and falling asleep.

Manic pondered what she said. “She does have a point. I think I should be mad at him too. But is that the right thing to feel?” Manic yawned as his thoughts drifted from his mind and fell asleep.

8 years later

Aleena sat in her room with a cigarette in one hand and a cup of whiskey in the other. It had been so long where she had been sober. After the death of Jules, everything had become worse.

“Another day, another glass to drown my problems in.” She jawed as she took another sip. “Life is just like you, bitter and comes with consequences.”

“Consequences like marrying that horrid Jules. He was nothing but a commoner, not even my social class, and look what he has done. Not only did he make me be fully responsible of the kingdom, he made me birth a child that has been nothing but a disgrace to me.” She growled as she finished her drink.

“Chaos. He has done nothing but causes me problems all my life as queen. First, he favors his sorry excuse of a father, second; he chooses to live with him than me, then he doesn’t do anything for this kingdom. Chaos. That name even fits him for everything he’s caused.” She smirked as she smoked her cigarette.

“Why did I ever have him in the first place. Everything would be better if he never existed at all.”

Suddenly she heard loud steps coming from the outside of her room. She opened the doors and peeked out her room to find everything was normal. She went back in and took her empty glass and was about to fill it up again until a loud cry, almost as a scream was heard from the outside. She peered through the window of her room and tried to figure out where it came from.

It was snowing hard tonight, so her view was limited. When she didn’t hear anything next time she just shrugged it aside and went to her bed, forgetting the large glass of whiskey.

Something about that cry bothered her but was slowly forgotten as Aleena fell asleep.

The Next Few Days

The next few days felt odd for Aleena. When she heard the cry, it was so filled with sorrow. She couldn’t help but stop everything she was doing and reflect on what has happened. Something inside told her something. It felt like it told her to fix things. A feeling of guilt filling her up.

“I need to fix this.” She stated before getting up from the bed and getting herself ready. She exited her room and went in search of her son’s room. She knocked on the door and waited for a response.

“Chaos? You awake?” Aleena knocked again.

Nothing.

She grabbed the knob and opened the room. She walked inside to see that Chaos wasn’t there. Most of his things were missing too. His guitar, his clothes, and even some photographs had disappeared. Except for one thing, a piece of paper was sitting alone on the bed. Aleena picked it up and sat down on the bed. She opened up the paper and began to read it.

“To whoever reads this, which I doubt anyone will, I cannot take it anymore. My life here in the castle has been nothing but pure agony and suffering. Ever since the death of my father and uncle, life hasn’t been the same since. Everybody I knew and loved turned their backs on me to leave me here alone. To rot, to be forgotten by everyone. I know how everyone feels about me. Sonia and Manic hate my guts for choosing our father over our mother, and my mother… I am nothing but a disgrace in her eyes. Nothing but a mistake she made alongside my father. I can’t take it anymore. I can’t keep up all this sadness and fury inside. I’ve tried to end it before but couldn’t get myself to do it. But now I've decided that I’ve had enough. I packed my things and left. Don’t try to look for me as you will never be able to find me. Please… just let me be me. To let my suffering end. - Chaos”

Aleena started to sob as she finished reading, “C-Chaos… no…”

Aleena ran out the door, tears in her eyes, all the way to the council room. She burst through the door, startling everyone that was inside.

“Your majesty, what is the matter? Why are you crying?” The duke said. “Something terrible has happened!” Aleena cried.

“ Calm down, your majesty. Breath, now tell us what has happened.”A lieutenant colonel said. “My son! He’s gone!” Aleena stated.

“Which son? Manic?” The duke questioned. “No… Chaos.. he’s gone.” Aleena corrected. “But how can that be?” A Baroness said.

“Everything in his room is gone. But he left this note.” She handed the note to the lieutenant colonel. He reads the letter. “It can’t be. He really is gone.”

“What do you want us to do your majesty?” The duke asked,

“First we need to search the castle just in case he hasn’t left. Then If we don’t find him here, we need to send a search team to find him in the nearby cities. I’m sure he hasn’t gotten that far yet.” Aleena planned. “Alright, we’ll order all the servants to find him. We’ll also contact G.U.N. for them to send out a search party to find your son.” The lieutenant colonel stated.

“And if you could, please do not let the public know about this,” Aleena added. “Yes, your majesty.”

Hours later

“Sonia, have you heard? Chaos is gone.” Manic said as he met up with Sonia who was listening to her music and reading a magazine. “What?” Sonia said as she pulled out her earbuds.

“Chaos is gone!” Manic repeated. “What do you mean he’s gone?” Sonia questioned as she set down her magazine. “He’s gone. Mom found all of his stuff missing and nobody has been able to track him down all throughout the castle. They even sent G.U.N. to start searching for him.” Manic explained.

“But why would he be gone?” Sonia asked as she put her hand up to her chin. “Beats me.”

Both pondered the thought of Chaos leaving the castle. Both shrugged the idea off.

“Well, that shouldn’t matter to us. It makes no difference whether or not he’s here.” Sonia said and went back to her thing.

‘I may not know him that well but it’s not right for us to treat him like this.’ Manic thought. He sighed as he left the room.

Months Later

Aleena was sitting next to a window in her room. Suddenly a someone came inside her room.

“Your majesty?” A voice spoke. Aleena turned around to see who it was. It was the commander of G.U.N.; Abraham Tower.

“Abraham? Have you found my son? Is he alive?” Aleena questioned as she went closer to him.

“About that. Your majesty, it’s been months since we’ve been searching for your son and yet we still don’t have any clues of where he might be. I have come to an agreement to end the search and pronounce your son… dead.”

“No…” She mumbled. “I’m so sorry your majesty but we have no choice but to end the search.”

“No.. you can’t do that… we just need to keep searching a little bit more… I'm sure he’ll appear again.” Aleena reasoned as she started to lose her grip.

“I’m sorry but we can’t keep this on anymore. If you’ll excuse me, I have to be going. Good day.” Abraham said as he headed for the door.

“Abraham… make an announcement… tell the public that he’s… gone…” Aleena asked before he left. “Yes, your majesty.”

Abraham leaves the room, leaving Aleena to cry over the sudden news she was given.

“No!! Ahhhh!” She sobs as she leaned down next to her bed. She was so distraught. Heartbroken.

Aleena stands up and starts to destroy everything. She breaks all alcohol she has scattered in her room. She grabs one of the shards and goes up to the mirror. She grabs her hair with one hand and with the other, she slices her hair, cutting off all the years she’s grown it out. She drops her hair and looks at herself. All she could see was nothing. She continued to cry.

Sonic’s birthday

Aleena sat in front a fountain that was in their garden. It was large, and it glowed from the clean water running through it. But it didn’t get her mind off what she was thinking about.

“Happy birthday Chaos. I know that you’re not here with me but I just want to celebrate this day for you. I miss you very much, and if you can hear me, please come back home.” Aleena said as she looked at the sky.
Blue, like her son.

She looked down, her smile fading, “Then again, it’s not like I can force you. This happened because of me. If only this never happened.”

A tear ran down Aleena’s face as she wiped it with her hand.

“Mother, are you here?!” A voice called out. “Mom!” Another voiced called.

Sonia and Manic come around the corner and see Aleena sitting in front of the fountain.

“There you are. We’ve been searching for you.” Sonia said as she bet down to catch her breath. “Is there something wrong?” Aleena asked. “You have important business to attend too back in the castle.” Manic explained as he leaned against a tree.

“Tell them I’ll be there in a minute. I just need a bit more time.” Aleena said as she continued to watch the fountain. Sonia caught on what Aleena was referring too.

“Mother, please you have to stop this nonsense and get over it already. Chaos is gone and there’s nothing we could’ve done.” Sonia said, trying to get her mother to move on.

“You say that so easily as if you were the one to lose a child,” Aleena mumbled. “Mother, you have to stop. Does it matter that Chaos is here or not?” Sonia argued.

Aleena turned around to face her own daughter, “How could you say that to your own brother?!” “C’mon mom, none of us cared about him! Why are you caring about him now?!” Sonia impugned.

“Because he was the first son I gave birth too! He was the first child I gave my love too. He was the last remnant of what your father has left!” Aleena cried out.

Both children were stunned by her answer.

“You still miss dad?” Sonia pried.

“Yes, with all my heart. And Chaos was the last thing that I had of him to remember.” Aleena told them as a tear fell down her face again.

“But why are you caring about him now and why not when he was here?” Manic decided to speak.

“I was clouded by my sadness over your father’s death. It clouded me from my family. Which led to me losing Chaos.” Aleena explained as she wiped her tears. “Did he really mean that much to you?” Sonia questioned.

“Yes… and I still love the two of you as much as I did Chaos.” Aleena stated as she wiped her tears.

“Mom, we’re… we’re so sorry.” Manic atoned.  “It’s okay. Most of this is my fault. I’ll take the blame.” Aleena said. “No, it’s all our fault. We all made this happen.” Sonia corrected as guilt came to her.

“Come here,” Aleena said, smiling as she extended her arms. The three come together to be in a large hug.

“I love you guys so much, promise me that you’ll never leave your mother.” Aleena cried as she held onto her children tight. “We promise.” They said as they hugged their mother tighter.

“I love you.”

Two years later

Aleena was sitting at her desk working on some paperwork. A knock filled the room and the door opened with someone with a folder in hand. “Your majesty?” They said.

“Come in. Is there something you need?” Aleena said as the servant came into the room. “G.U.N has given us this file that I think you should look over.” The servant said as gestured the skin colored folder. “Alright. Hand it here.” Aleena ordered. The servant opens and hands her the folder to reveal what’s inside.

“Who’s this?” Aleena questioned.

“Oh, this is Sonic the Hedgehog. He’s the one who saved the citizens of station square from that terrible water creature that flooded the city. Gun had interviewed him and his friends after those events had occurred. When they saw him, they immediately thought of Chaos.” The servant explained.

“And why did G.U.N. give you his file?” Aleena questioned, one her eyes rising in question. “Look at the picture. He looks exactly like him. I think they finally found him.” The servant said. “He does resemble him.” Aleena conjured.

Aleena inspects the photo more. She sighs as she closes the folder and hands it back to her servant.

“That’s not him. Looking at it, all of what is stated in that file does not match up with my Chaos. He’s just an ordinary hedgehog that saved the day, that’s all.” Aleena stated rather harshly.

“But your majesty?! Don’t you think we should take this as an opportunity to find Chaos?” The servant questioned as he set the folder down on the desk.

“As I said, none of what that file says matches up with Chaos,” Aleena stated again.

“Yes, your majesty. I shall go then.” The servant said before retreating.

Aleena looks back at the folder sitting on the corner of her desk and opens it again.

The hedgehog in the photograph resembles Chaos to the point he might as well be him. But something about what his bio says and how he looks in the photograph just doesn’t add up. The one that stayed in the castle would have never put piercings, cut his hair, or wear those types of clothes, or even seem cocky. But something just doesn’t add up.

“Could it be? No… it can’t be. It’s not him. I should get back to work.” Aleena said before getting back to her paperwork.

Manic and Sonia

Years have passed and no sign of Chaos anywhere. Manic and Sonia her in the drawing room, Manic was listening to his music while Sonia read a book near the window. Sonia closed her book as she finished it and looked out the window. Something inside still bothered her.

“Manic, can I ask you something?” Sonia asked. “Sure sis.” Manic responded.

“Why did we behave the way we did with chaos?” Sonia questioned, continuing to look through the window. “What?” Manic said confused about her question. “Y-You heard me.” Sonia stuttered, not wanting to repeat the question.

“Well, I don’t know... we were like twelve. Can’t you just let it go?” Manic responded not wanting to give an answer. “Come on manic, just me give an answer,” Sonia demanded as she stood in front of him.

Manic breathe a sigh of defeat and look at Sonia in the eyes.

“It was because you were jealous.”

“Jealous?”

“Yeah. You were jealous of him because he got all the attention from dad because he was the oldest.” Manic explained. “And since when did you figure that out?” Sonia questioned.

“Just because I’m the one always goofing off since I'm the youngest, doesn’t mean that I’m not smart enough to reflect on my actions. Besides, I never hated him. I just copied you, which was a bad decision on my part. And as I said, it was just jealousy you had.” Manic continued.

”Well… I guess you are right. It was kinda jealousy. But Chaos never bragged about it or anything.” Sonia pondered. “Does it matter now? What happened happened. Unlike mom, I still think he’s out there somewhere.” Manic stated as he looked out the window next to his sister.

“You think so?”

“Something just tells me. Watch, he’ll come back to us. Sooner or later.”

"I hope you're right."

13 Years Later

Aleena was sitting in front of the same old fountain, covered in snow and ice. It had been so many years that she’s been at this fountain. The time passed took a toll on her.

Although she had stopped drinking, her appearance wasn’t spared from the age clock. Her muzzle had wrinkles and her hands were covered in dark spots. Her hair had also gotten a bit lighter, a few white strands here and there. But her appearance didn’t bother her.

“Chaos? Hello, if you can hear me. I’m still here waiting for you. Even though I know that I will never find you again. I just want to able to hear your sweet voice again. But I know it won’t happen.” Aleena spoke as she looked up to the sky.

Azure… like the two most important people she’s lost.

“But if you’re alive out there, I hope your life is the happiest it can be. Cause I know this is what you wanted. But if you could hear me, please let me hear your voice again. Please.”

Aleena bowed her head as she closed her eyes.

“Mother?”

Chaos ch. 14 One Journey Ends, Another Begins pg. 316
Chaos Epilogue
Heya!! I'm still uploading!! :D

During the final chapters of Chaos, I decided to write this somewhat backstory of the rest of the family. I know I need to clear up somethings and I think this clears up somethings with Aleena, Manic, and Sonia. I hope you like this. :)

Well, I can definitely see why Chaos would want to run away, that's for sure.

It's also interesting that you decided to write this. Adds a little more debt to the main story.

EVERY little detail made sense and how his younger siblings reacted X3
This is good info to understand the story more than EVER!♡
