I find Grendel fascinating in so many ways. She's beautiful, terrifying and has a wonderful visual design, I think kicking off October with her is doing it right!
I remember when I first drew Grendel, I felt underwhelmed by her design and wondered if I shouldn't scrap her look entirely. You were the first person to give me any feedback on her, and you convinced me that there was the nugget of something good in there. And oh man. Looking at what you pull off with it when you can just follow your own instincts? I see it. I totally do! The entity you've drawn here is graceful, brutish, organic, mechanical and so many other contradictions that it's just... really intriguing to look at from any angle. I mean just the fact of her wearing a dress, of her riding a carousel horse, it's so weird and perverse and yet interlocks perfectly. The lighting effects are so good on this! It's pretty and haunting and I love it. Thanks so much for drawing her!
