The BM 59 is an Italian battle rifle based on the M1 Garand and chambered for 7.62x51 NATO. Adopted by the Italian military in 1959 and replaced by the Beretta AR70/90 assault rifle in 1990, the BM 59 also saw service with other countries including Argentina, Morocco, Ethiopia, and Indonesia.
