Alex is the Captain or Cap of the resistance in Hollow Grove. A role that often only lasts a few years.
Like those before him was nominated and elected to the position, in part because of his unassuming, boy next door charm. He was pretty shocked himself and is doing his best to keep up with the role. Those elected almost always have a power of one sort or another. Alex's is peak human physical abilities. Strength, speed, reflexes, the five senses. (He only has slightly above average intelligence for reasons he's unsure of himself. Something he occasionally gets playfully teased for.)
But most importantly, he has heightened observational skills.
He can see that small patch of guard rail his sneakers need to get on to dodge a dozen tendrils. He can hone in on the right spots to soften up a monster by its movements. He can tell where and how he has to twist to pull himself and three others out of the way of a splash of acid. And he has the power to back it all up. He may not have super strength or be able to move at one hundred miles per hour...but he is a living, breathing, world-applied speed-runner.
