So I started this a couple days ago, right after my little tantrum in fact. Might have finished sooner if not for work.

Looks good, right?

A voice whispers to the young mouse from realms unseen.
'Thou art Brave and Stalwart and we have seen the honer of your heart and now we reward it'

The shadowed enemy closed in jeering and laughing at the helpless young mouse....they never stood a chance.

so begins a new legend.

Darick the mouse boy is a young Shinigami in training. He can stand to take time to teach what he's learned of basic blade to someone starting out :)

Your reminder that Da Vinci's David is supposed to be viewed from either a level view or above, so you can see just how scared shitless the future king really is.
There IS such a thing as having to grow up too fast. It's okay to be scared, mouse. Now use your fear to sharpen you father's sword, and smite your foe...

Wow, really? Cool. The more you know... =3

... also, damnit, I can't quite recall the specific words to any particular quote about true courage not being the absence of fear, but rather carrying on in spite of it. Something like that, anyway. XP

Your paraphrase is entirely correct. It's wuite natural to be scared:
"You think that merely because you run away from danger, you have no courage! You are mistaking cowardice, for wisdom!" --OZ The Great & Terrible
And yeah, the whole description of what the giant sculpture of David is supposed to really convey blew me away as well. But look as his expression and his body language, and also look at how withdrawn his cock is. No. Really. Why does David rock an acorn down there? Not because it's cold out, but because even the little soldiers withdraw in the face of a greater enemy.
