With the surge of new fighting games such as Marvel vs Capcom Infinite and Injustice 2, the urge of fighting games and pixel overwhelmed me and I found myself doing a new round of pixel art characters for a theoretical fighting game that uses the framework of Injustice 2’s combat system. One of the more seductive character is Gavin, the Elusive Kunoichi
Wielding a traditional kusari-gama, Gavin is a master of fighting and grappling from mid-screen with the help of the weighted chain end of his weapon, either stopping rush-down characters or anti-airing opponents, Once wrapped up, he’ll pull them into close range for a short combo with the bladed end. One of Gavin’s unique moves is a half-screen sweep that then drags the enemy to him for a possible hit before the enemy wake up.
Gavin’s Character trait is Thermal Weight. Upon activation, the weight at the end of Gavin’s chain gains new properties depending on whether it’s hot or cold, which can be switched by activating the trait while active. For Flame Weight, the enemy takes damage over time if the weight hits him; Frost Weight will freeze the enemy in place, opening them for new combo options. However, an opponent can’t be simultaneously afflicted by Flame and Frost Weight, as one will negate the other out.
