Amanda is straight with a current preference for effeminate, lean boys. She can find girls attractive but has never thought much more about it.
The only thing about her that can be described as a 'kink' is the occasional vanilla porn-watching, which, she does once or twice a week.
Quirks and traits
Amanda bears the look of an insomniac without being one. She is relatively healthy (for a computer nerd) and gets a decent amount of exercise daily (for a computer nerd), but she has a very sickly look about her -- especially around her sunken-in eyes. She also speaks in a deliberate, calm and dry manner; purposefully not showing any emotion in her tone to disguise how much of an emotional person she is.
Going up and down Amanda's forearms are many deep self-inflicted lacerations from a suicide attempt now scarred over. She tends to wear long sleeve shirts nowadays mostly in part from adults frustratingly trying to console her, despite the fact that the scars are now years old. Amanda can also become exceedingly embarrassed when her peers point out her scars.
Amanda is often mistaken for being much older than she is because of her calm demeanor and tired, mature eyes. She welcomes this mistake, though.
Hometown
Amanda is from Trouville City, in the island country of Lavender Hill. Specifically, the middle-northern portion living in an apartment in the economic shopping district.

Relevant Friends, love interests, and nemesis
Due to spending an enormous amount of her time either working in her parents' thrift store or working on rebuilding old computers, Amanda does not have any physical friends. She, however, has an assortment of people she talks with on a retro computer restoration forum online that she considers to be 'practically' best friends. Though, she disguises her gender from them.
Amanda has a few people that she plays online games with, some from her forum, but none of which know her real identity or that she's even a girl, but she would still consider them friends.
Recently, she had encountered a rather charming shrew named Piper Brooke at her little brother's birthday party at Patty O' Patrick's Pizza Parlor. It was her time opening up again and she felt it went... decently. They even intended on sharing contact information but were interrupted -- she, however, ended up finding out his name which was enough to look him up online.
The aforementioned interruption was brought on by a golden retriever named Aria McBride, Piper's assumed girlfriend. Amanda has very rarely ever really pissed anyone off in person -- but it seemed she had pissed Aria off somehow. Amanda made it a point to hopefully avoid Aria in the future.

Family Relation, Home, and Financial
Amanda and her family own and operate a thrift store and, while not super successful, does okay for itself. It is located in the lower end shopping district but far enough away from real trouble.
Despite bearing scars from her suicide attempt, these were not a result of her family whom are a close and loving unit. She has a supportive mother, a strict but fair father and an obnoxious but lovable little brother who all live in a medium-sized apartment. Fitting that her taste would be all things retro and wood grained, because the apartment looks like it used to be a shag pad from the 70s.
Amanda has her own bedroom and bathroom which are located on the opposite end of the apartment so she can enjoy a consistent seclusion which allow her to be able to use her gigantic sound system. A fortunate feature of their apartment is that the unit is located right above their thrift store; making getting to work everyday all that much easier.
Amanda loves her family, apartment and everything in it.
Her family still struggle with their very erratic income, partially from inconsistent stock, and so she had taken to using her hobby of rebuilding retro computers that had been donated and selling them to high-end collectors. Along with that, she is treated as an employee (without pay); helping man the counter, doing inventory and cleaning up.
Interests, Hobbies and Likes
From a very young age, Amanda has been fascinated with video games but is loathed to be a called a 'gamer girl'. She adores retro technology but is still absorbed in current gaming culture as well.
Amanda also loves collecting, but not the typical fare; choosing things like bigbox PC games from decades passed, bizarre computer accessories and old, used floppy discs that hopefully have cool stuff in them (which has resulted in her having a very eclectic porn folder).
The hobby that dominates most of Amanda's time is rebuilding old computers that were sold or donated to her parents' thrift store. Most of these computers were broken and far beyond repair but she taught herself how to rebuild them with help from an online retro computer restoration forum. Whenever she rebuilds an old and dead computer, she is filled with what she could only describe as a 'faux motherly pride'.
Even though Amanda sells most of her rebuilt computer stock to collectors online, there are still 3 machines that she would never sell, the Triforce -- having built them to near mint-condition.
One gaudy weakness Amanda has, which causes her remarkable shame, is she is a sucker for unnecessary and nostalgic retro toys (action figures from characters in obscure PC games, PVC piggy banks shaped like weapons, helmets and monsters from old games and even stupid large-headed deformed dolls which hardly looked like the things they were supposed to be).
Even though it started as a coping mechanism for her (going onto forums and talking about computer stuff), she, herself, has now gotten into the habit of getting other people online into the hobby; helping new people rebuild their own computers like she was some sort of old pro now.
Because of her suicide attempt and recovery procedure, she has an emotional connection with all of this computer and retro stuff.
(Amanda is also very fond of pineapples and coconuts and has been known to smack a bitch for disagreeing but not really)
Distastes, fears and anxieties
To this day, Amanda is riddled with anxieties: is she too fat, is she too quiet, how ugly is she actually? However, she has found that the best way of silencing these is by working on old computers. Still, if she goes a long period without doing anything revolving around fixing computers, she becomes very jittery, nervous and depressed.
She has a logical but irrational aversion to older teenage boys and men due to a long series of online sexual abuse that occurred to her several years back. She never talked to her parents about what actually happened, but she also fears that she would be judged harshly if they found out the details.
Amanda has horrible trust issues; going so far as to refuse to let anyone know what her gender is online anymore. Sometimes, when she is behind the counter at her thrift store, she tends to give customers, who are older men, a fake name like Sarah or Hailey (which are her two go-tos). Boys her age, however, she's not quite as aversive to.
She can't handle any form of physical confrontation and will immediately back off if instigated. She never wants to get in a fist fight with anyone -- no matter how much they may have wronged her.
Amanda has to see several therapists and psychiatrists due, mainly, to her condition. This, fortunately, has waned off the worst effects of her depression and trauma. Occasionally, things like sleeplessness, nightmares and being haunted will bleed through but are they are mostly manageable now.
Overall goals.
After spending so much time in her shell, Amanda has a short-term goal of branching out just a little bit. She wants real friends, someone to hang out and she needs to get over what happened to her before -- perhaps by getting a nice boyfriend.
She also hopes that if she does good in her (special) Jr. High (for kids who have had 'incidents'), that she'll be able to go to normal High School with normal kids.
Also, because of how lucrative it is becoming, Amanda would also like to open her own business doing retro computer repair and restoration -- and even though the people on her forum know her as a boy, it would mean the world to her to someday meet the people who technically saved her life... or at least be honest with them.
I'd almost call that pc hardware 'vintage' - she's like a pc gaming hipster or something. :V
Maybe she'd be interested in getting some of the old home computers as well. Amigas, and the like? I also feel like she'd have a blast if she was able to voulenteer somewhere like FreeGeek if she was canadian. (I just know about that place from LinusTechTips - I myself am nowhere near Canada)
Also the text on that computer monitor is very silly. I like the Cacodemon and Fallout 1/2 power armour helmet in the background too.
All that aside my heart can't take many more people with tragic pasts or circumstances. First Piper and his mother being abandoned by the rest of the 'family', now Amanda with depression and attempted suicide. Whyyyyy. :c

Firstly, we really appreciate you going into depth with her character ^^ but how dare you say that text on the monitor is silly. That is some grade-A techy stuff right there, we'll have you know =w=
Also, FreeGeek would be totally up her alley XD
And don't worry, at least she's passed all that tragedy stuff now :3 Thank you very much for your comment!

Honestly, I'd love to see her get into a catfight with Aria, despite the following:

... I still think that would be BRUTAL and BAD-ASS. >83
Gosh, I love pineapples and coconuts too. I was even considering the technical field, ripping apart computers and rebuilding transistor radios, until the creative writing field threw me for a loop. X)
Bradley would TOTALLY shop at her family's thrift store! He's all about that sort of thing, supporting local establishments.
The poor thing... I can totally understand why she'd be so nerve-wracked with anxiety. :'(
She's truly a marvelous and beautiful young raccoon girl... one of the more relatable and well-established characters I've seen lately from you two. Kudos for sharing this lovely piece AND a thorough bit of reference/background info!
Honestly, I'd love to see her get into a catfight with Aria, despite the following: ~~~ Quote:
That wouldn't be a catfight, that would just be unfair! Aria would probably windmill kick Amanda into oblivion ;v; but thank you very much for you comment~ we're glad you find her relatable and Bradley should just buy out all of their stock so they can have all the moniiieeees.

Kalila https://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=1351660 would probably be in that shop daily looking for old cameras to fix! Which means she would try and talk with The raccoon girl every time she could, she likes making friends.

Ya but Kalila is a bubbly chatterbox when she finds Simone that will listen. Kalila may not know as much about computers, but she does know about tinkering with things. She would try talking about neat tools that might work for computers too!

She seems pretty cool, and the 1970's shag pad decor sounds like a rather rad setup. Provided there's a few lava lamps and a collection of records. I'd defintely hang with her... Although if I ever caught glimpses of the scars, i'd give her a hug and tell her that I'm glad she's still around. Sometimes people need to hear that more than you expect.
She's just a sweet little raccoon... Aw... She seems pretty cool, and the 1970's shag pad decor sou
Seems an awful lot like myself in female form. I've spent a lot of my childhood tinkering with vintage PCs (starting with the Commodore PC2), also had made a similar suicide attempt, and most of my friends are online. I also tend to have a constant tired/withered look to the area around my eyes, with deep shadows underneath them. Same color eyes too. Only thing is, I was a slightly chubby kid with a thin face, rather than thin overall. Also incredibly socially awkward, I've only recently started coming out of my shell, still not entirely there... and I'm now 26.

the most flattering of flattery, but you don't need to present your wallet, we're already very excited to share more of her in the near future, but thank you

I knew I was going to see some mentions of LGR in these comments x3 Nice artwork nevertheless! I really love the work you have put into the details on the background and the character herself.

It'd be cool to introduce my coonfox Samantha to her. I could imagine an all-nighter of discussing old software like UT '99 and a binge LGR, Tehsnakerer, and Accursed Farms session. As well as plenty of really obnoxious amputee jokes given Sam's leg, and possibly uncomfortably frank scar comparisons. But mostly janky games!

She's adorable! It's sad to read that she struggled with suicidal thoughts but i'm glad she's doing better. I relate to her so much, especially the working on tech stuff to get your mind off anxieties thing. I found you guys yesterday and I love the Trouville gang already. I love this world you guys built and can't wait to get to your other characters!
