What type of control does your personality possess? Dominant personalities want to take charge and lead by example where Submissive personalities tend to lead from the rear and pick up the pieces. Aggressive personalities tend to attack situations head on and rise to the challenge whereas Passive personalities tend to rely on negotiation and reasoning.
In a relationship you should look for someone who shares the same row or column. However confidence is a major factor on dominance level and people can float around up and down the table. However they tend to stay stuck where they are in terms of left to right unless they are acting in a certain manner to make it easier for partnerships and teamwork.
If you have a group consisting entirely of neutral types nothing will get done. However it only takes one corner type in that group and the whole thing flows smoothly. To have a healthy functioning group you really want a neutral person of each side but in reality that's often not possible as neutral types tend to be rarer than the other types.
If you put two people of opposite corners in a room alone together you better be ready for some fireworks because these two will categorically not get on with each other except in the exceptionally rare case of individuals who respect each other's differences and work together because it's the smart thing to do rather than them actually agreeing with the idea.
People in the 4 corners who share a row or column can actually get along rather well and in terms of relationships they are often solid long term romances that leave many people confused as to what one partner sees in the other. However they often have friends or family that clash between the two sides and conflicts can arise through no fault of the couple themselves. If this is the case you might need some outside help from some neutral type personalities to bridge the gaps.
Neutral-Neutral is everyone's friend but they have no real personality of their own to speak of and generally just float around in the background like a part of the furniture or masonry. They don't generally add much to the group other than numbers and they tend to sit on the fence in all arguments. However this isn't necessarily a bad thing as at opportune moments they can change to another neutral type to show support for the people they believe in and when Neutral-Neutral decides on something you know it's a significant decision, more so than any other type.
Dominant-Aggressive and Submissive-Passive are such extreme personalities they tend to either inspire others or drive them away. They tend to be rather lonely types that even though they may be part of a group have few real friends and often has their trust abused by other types that believe that these types aren't people or shouldn't be treated like such or are otherwise aloof.
In an odd way sometimes these two sides come together and get along sharing in their loneliness or admiring the differences between them as alien powers they don't understand in a completely chaotic relationship that boggles the mind as to how these could ever have such a strong bond between them. But fair enough it's not actually that uncommon no matter how strange it is. In the 16 personalities tests they also tend to be absolute opposites as well. Science is still struggling to understand how these two can get along so well.
