This is Highway A1, the Kapenguria-Lodwar Road, in the part of the homeland of the families of Moyo and Jamila (the Jais and Kiyngu Mongoose Families), in Turkana County in northern Rift Valley Province, Kenya...not far from Lodwar. The speed limit on this highway is 110 kph (somewhere between 65 and 70 mph)...or at least was 110 kph at the time of this pic...In recent years, A1 had been neglected and allowed to fall apart. A 160 kilometer (100 mile) stretch of A1 South of Lodwar in particular, from Changamatak to Wakor, is as though it had never been paved. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EoxDkOS3Rc Not to mention that the A1 bridge over the Turkwel River into West Pokot County is fit to collapse, if it hadn't done so already. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOtoMFEF0UA You may have noticed that the speed limit sign is on the left of the road, being that traffic travels on the left side of the road in Kenya. The landscape differs from that of most of Cunene Province, Angola in that unlike being wooded with small scrub like trees and underbrush, this particular area is open Savanna. Here the highway is a long straight-a-way that goes on for roughly 15 kilometers or so (about 10 miles) until it has to curve through to hilly terrain.
