Ereshkigal is the Goddess of Dust and one of several death-related deities.

The Goddess of Dust is an odd one. While most gods of death compete for souls - the actual consciousness of the fallen - the Gravemother instead preserves their lifeless corpses within the rancid tombs of Irkalla. To what end, no one is sure, for most do not return to a body once departed. She is not building an army, for she hates nothing more than the disturbance of the dead; even those not consecrated to her are afforded her protection, as she honors any burial rite that shows respect to the deceased.
