Bob Newhart did a routine about an airline that was just as bad. Not long after he recorded the routine for a 33rp LP album, he got news of a terrible 2-plane collision over NYC. There was only one survivor.One. And the boy died soon after.
Bob Newhart decided never again to do that airplane routine. Don Adams did a similar routine that was painfully blunt, also recorded on a 33rp LP. That's how I know of them. "And if you look out the left side windows, you can see our 12:40 flight - on the side of the mountain !"

I haven't flown in 40-odd years. Back in the 70's, my family had booked a flight on PanAm to Seattle. The day before we were to fly, a PanAm plane crashed - the usual result,NO survivors. We cancelled our plane tickets, and took the train ! 3 days by rail, but -we saw America ! We never flew again. My mother had always been edgy about plane travel, and this did not help.
