"Hey Frisk, did you get the assault rifle there?"
"Assault rifle?"
"Yeah, it's right there."
Asriel and Frisk lounged about in their room, spending a lazy saturday night in playing video games and eating some takeout while Asgore was in charge of the house. Toriel was away for some further meetings out of Ebbot City so instead of cooking, Asgore let his children just get some pizza and whatever they could take out and just play some Left 4 Dead. Normally Toriel wouldn't approve of their wild consumption of junk food, but as the king always said, "What she won't know, won't hurt her..."
"Why'd you get the shotgun, Frisk?" Asriel asked curiously, taking a slice of pizza from the box beside his sibling.
"I like it, it does the job well." Frisk replied, focusing on the game.
"Yeah, but it's so situational, the assault rifle is so cooler."
"I've got zombies crawling up my butt here, I'd like to keep groups of them at bay and one of my team already has an assault rifle." The human stated, keeping his focus on fighting off the crowd of zombies around his player character.
"There's no harm in two, double the fun! Come on, liven up a bit..."
Frisk sighed as Asriel took a sip from his coke and kept quiet until their brother piped up again, "You at least got a pipebomb, right?"
"Yeah."
"Save it for like a Charger or Tank or something."
He watched as Frisk's character was swarmed with zombies, Frisk deciding now was a good a time as any to use the pipebomb.
Asriel noticed and called them out, "What was that for, I told you to save it!"
"I was nearly out of ammo!"
"You had plenty, now you wasted the pipe on some crowd..." The goat sighed in frustration.
"I'll get another one, chill." Frisk tried to disarm the tension between them and Asriel, but he was not having it.
"Come on, start getting better already."
Frisk let out another sigh as they were then met with a Tank as the music swelled into its titular leitmotif.
The human was already panicking, "Oh man, here he comes..."
"Told you to get the assault rifle, Frisk. The shotgun just isn't good against these guys..."
The human suddenly had a burst of determination as they gripped the controller tight and began dancing circles around the tank as it began taking out their AI team members, shooting it with accuracy and fending off hordes of zombies with another pipebomb, found on a ledge behind them. While they were further distracted, Frisk darted and avoided the pieces of debris hurled by the rampaging undead until he unloaded their last shot and the tank dropped dead.
Asriel stared in wild disbelief and amazement as their sibling began reviving their teammates, Frisk smirking and looking at their brother, "You call it situational, I call it a case of 'shut your face'."
The goat then gave up and shrugged in defeat, taking a bite from the pizza slice as he slumped down, Frisk having a bright smile across their face for the rest of the mission.
It felt good when determination proved someone wrong.
------
Something safe tonight as I had this idea that Asriel and Frisk would enjoy a lot of video games together, whether it be one or two player affairs. I'd imagine Asriel would like more modern games while Frisk enjoyed more retro stuff, but both weren't afraid to cross into each others gaming preference.
