Battletoads in Battlemaniacs: Stage 1

Battletoads was perhaps the hardest game ever on the NES and BTBM on the SNES was also quite hard, though not as much. The game was shorter, and honestly didn't do to much more than the first game did. Still, it was good and in classic Rare style as well, back when they made good games for Nintendo instead of shitty ones for Microsoft.

It's a shame the series has never been revived. There exists a video for an alpha version of Battletoads Advance, but as you can guess, the game was canceled thanks to Microsoft. Even though the only video does look suckish, it was an alpha, so it's likely the game would've gotten better if development continued.

But of course, we can't even count on the original games being released on Virtual Console, again, thanks to Microsoft, they're forbidden too unless it was an XBLA exclusive, and that's bullshit! Rare was at their best with Nintendo, and games that should be on the Wii VC, like the Banjo series, are on the 360 instead.

Okay, I'm done ranting. Enjoy a piece of music from a better time.

you shouldn't be done ranting , but really doesn't the entire fan base just share a collective tear every time anyone talks about rareware?.....

Yeah, especially when DKC's concerned.

Also, I apparent was wrong about MS blocking Rare's VC games. According to a Q&A they did with some fan mail not too long ago, the reason more classic Rare games didn't appear on Wii Virtual Console is because Nintendo never asked. Apparently, Nintendo has to ask you if you want a game on VC and not the other way around.

On a related sidenote: Rare also stated they'd be interested in developing for the 3DS, but don't expect to anytime soon. (No official word why, but they implied because of Microsoft.) There's even rumors of Nintendo wanting to buy back Rare, or at least some of their IPs (e.g., Banjo-Kazooie). True or not, both former and current Rare employees expressed their desire to work for Nintendo again.

because they are a video game studio/publisher w/e and nintendo is a video game company , where's microsoft are a bunch of demons in suits and ties....
lol.....

but so what does that mean about the dkc series on vc then? did nintendo ask for that? and then why not the rest?....

Well, Nintendo owns Donkey Kong and anything related to it. (Allegedly, not the Kremlings and K. Rool though. Which might explain their absence from DKCR.)

Apparently, Nintendo doesn't care about the other Rare titles, or are too afraid Microsoft will block them from licensing any other VC titles.

To be honest, I'd much prefer to play Banjo-Kazooie in it's original N64 format, with all Nintendo references intact rather than replaced with Microsoft logos.
