"Litwick's flame is usually out. It only ignites when it begins leeching off the life force of other beings, which is uses a fuel. It will pretend to be a guide to further drain it's victims of their essence"
"This ominous Pokemon is feared as it awaits peoples' deaths and comes to steal the spirit from their body to fuel it's baleful flame. Lampent are said to wander cities and wait by hospitals, waiting for people to pass on to continue this act."
"Chandelure waves it's flaming arms to lure victims into a hypnotic trance so that it may absorb their souls and burn them for fuel. The flame this creates does not burn one's flesh, but their soul, leaving behind only the body once it's done. Those souls who become consume by it's flame wander lost, forever."
A title which immediately has a much more ominous meaning after reading those descriptions. Remember: "There's no such thing a bad Pokemon!" I'm sorry but I really just think these guys take the cake on that subject, Lampent hovers by hospitals waiting for people to die!? Good lord, GameFreak! Then that small realization that Litwick's flame only ignites when it's leeching a soul... and it's ALWAYS lit when I'm using it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6MlaIe1ljs
Anyways, yes, no. 9 is a three way tie between the Litwick family. This picture sort of ended up like a paperclip chain. It started with one and kept going and before I knew it, it was way larger then intended, though I'm not complaining. My initial thought was just Chandelure, but as I looked at it I realized Litwuick could easily be added to it's arms in place of the basic flames, just to add a little more flare (no pun intended for once) then I looked at it and thought "Well, I have Litwick and Chandelure... it's just gonna look odd without Lampent" and feeling sorry for the little soul muncher I hung two from Chandelure's arms and made one big spoopy family reunion.
All in all I'm glad I did, I like this evolution family pretty damn well, while I think Chandelure is my favorite if only due to my personal use of it in the games, I think Litwick and Lampent are just as good and awesomely designed. I've heard a lot complain about how silly it is, making a candle or chandelier a Pokemon, but honestly in terms of Ghost-types its a really good idea. One. Candles, lanterns and creepy chandeliers are very prevalent themes in scary stories and aesthetics. Hell, Japan even has a monster in their folklore that IS a lantern. So I felt they were all really fitting and things that should have been utilized well before this. And Two. Spirit flames and paranormal beings leeching off souls or burning them is also a big theme in these types of things. Honestly, I'm all around impressed by these Pokemon designs and GameFreak not holding back and just saying "these guys wait for you to die to eat your soul, deal with it!" they've definitely worked up to a top favorite of mine and why they're deserving of a slot in the Top 10~
When I saw this bugger I was actually kind of interested. Dragon, Steel and Firetype Pok'emon I've always liked but on the subject this is the first fire-ghost type I ever saw. I only wish it's fire attacks could keep that same color as it's abilities.
When I read those entires on the pok'edex it also sounded pretty effed up. lol good work on this design
