"This is such a horrible idea!" Valeron moaned. The Silver Dragon Knight was sitting on a bench, burying his face in his hands. "How did I ever convince her highness to make me do this?" he wondered, not for the first, nor the last time.
Alcibaratorix, his dragonet companion, shook her narrow, wedge-shaped head disapprovingly. The small winged lizard was curled up on the bench next to him, and if any of the passers-by paid the brilliant-scaled beast any attention, they didn't advertise that fact. Despite that silver-scaled dragonets were the traditional familiars of the mage-knights that guarded the royal family, there was no royal decree forbidding their use by others, and no true Silver Dragon Knight would ever have dressed as shabbily as the wolfen. It would have been a disgrace to the Order.
Valeron was distinctly aware of that fact. Which was why he was so upset.
"I'm back!" Princess Lucine said. She walked towards the cavalier, smiling happily. "Look what I bought!" she laughed. "Doesn't it look cute?"
Valeron was dumbstruck. "What is this?" he gaped.
"It's commoner fashions! Aren't they daring?" The princess spun around, the scanty clothing threatening to fall apart at any moment. The shirt. . . it wasn't a shirt, it was just a slip of cloth around her bosom. . . threatened to pop free and reveal her royal assets at any moment. The skirt was so short that it was barely even larger than a handkerchief. The corset, instead of flattening and slimming her voluptuous figure, only served to lift and emphasize her impressive figure. And the princess' bouncy demeanor didn't help in the slightest.
"Where did you buy that?" Valeron seethed.
"From that fine store over there!" Princess Lucine said. She pointed to a signboard hanging over a store advertising the most daring and adventurous clothing.
"Lady Moonlight's Boudoir," Valeron read, his voice flat and dead. "Exciting clothing for exciting women."
"Yup! And since I'm on an adventure, I think I'm certainly exciting, don't you!?" Lucine giggled.
Valeron glanced back and forth between his giggling princess and the crowds of men gazing at her with lust and hunger. He cleared his throat and put his hand on his sword, and all eyes immediately found something else to look at. "I think we need to talk, Lucine," Valeron said, very slowly. "About a great many things. . ."
