"What have you heard about this 'Sage of the Forest?'" I asked.
Sir Alric shuddered. "Little, for he shrouds himself in secrecy," he said, ominously. "But they say that he is ten thousand years old, and that he has seen the kingdoms rise and fall. He is supposed to be ten feet tall, with eyes that blaze like flame, and he is surrounded by demons and monsters of all kinds. Tread carefully, my squire, for with the Sage of the Forest, you must always expect the unexpected."
"Was someone looking for me?" a clear, female voice said. We turned to find a young mousmaid walking down the steps of the ruined temple. A raven, some kind of familiar, was perched on her shoulder, and her slender body was clad only in rags, adorned with arcane sigils of every kind."
"Looking for. . . you are the Sage of the Forest?" Sir Alric gasped.
"No, he is my master. But he has left me in charge of all his works. I am Anwyn, the Sage's Apprentice. How may I help you?"
My master, the Knight, was left speechless, looking upon this slip of a girl with a magician's staff and familiar. I could not help but make a humorous comment at his obvious discomfort. "Well," I smirked. "This was, certainly, unexpected."
My ears hurt for a good while after, from the boxing he gave them, but it was well worth it
