Nice idea I have to say, and I bet you're right on which music will do well. 😋😋

From the glitter in her eyes and the size of that evil grin, I think AJ's descendant is about to realize she's bitten off a little more than she can chew. Or fight, in her case.

A nice reference to a bad game... Not sure if I should like it or hate it.

Nope, it's referencing Mighty No. 9, the attempted "spiritual successor" to Mega Man.

Mizuhiro

@ dekumon

well i don't see any connection with Mighty No. 9!

It's the same style of text display in particular. Example: http://mightyno9.wikia.com/wiki/File:MN3_Boss_Intro_Ar...

This is gonna be... interesting. XD

Also, small critique. I think you messed up slightly on Rarity's foreleg, they are both behind her torso in the last panel.

I didn't get the game reference (meaning, I don't know the exact game being referenced, probably because I never played it)

but I do like the meme :)

Reminds me of the legendary birds after you beat the Elite Four in X/Y. First encounter in the wild is a legendary bird, but it keeps running away from you before you can start the battle. Finally, when you track it down to the Sea Maiden's Den, it finally swoops down and wants to fight after it ran away for so long.

A good boss battle needs a theme like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEQ6uqJG758

My all time favorite is this:

(edit: although almost all that game's battle tracks are awesome)

Dunno why, but of all the music I've listened to, when I saw that last panel the only song that popped up was "J-E-N-O-V-A".

Oh uh.... Now you crossed her line...

I wonder if Little AJ's friends show up to aid her yet tell her the 'corrupted monster' is actually mutual friend and original Element of Generosity.

Cue up Scooby Doo/Benny Hill chase music. Little AJ...You better start running!

RobtheMorpher

@ Killereye

Scooby Doo/Benny Hill chase music?

Killereye

10 years, 1 month ago

link

@ RobtheMorpher

It means: pick your chase music! Either one where Scooby Doo is chased by a ghost or the ever classic Benny Hill chase music. Whichever you pick, the music is giving up a non-serious-chase feeling.

xD Genius! Little AJ is about to discover that NMR has a bit more experience. By about a century.

In regards to Battle Themes, I would suggest the following for NMR
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbhz0O0dAyk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQCMNYP8CbE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_b_nXbyc_8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLmAlskhRZc

and for Little AJ

I get the feeling Little AJ is going to be visiting Alternate Dawn in the very near future...

DevilishGenesis

*Little AJ feels like she's going to have a bad time, but foolishly disregards the feeling*

Well, she had ample warning. When your enemy begs you not to fight, and runs away at every opportunity, it's one of two situations. One, they just have no desire to fight because they're not evil, or just don't want to cause an incident. Two, they don't want to fight because they know that if they do, you're going to get your flank kicked from Ponyville to the Crystal Empire. A good reference to the second point would be The Doctor, AKA The Oncoming Storm.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r43X3tXzqTw Thats the theme this should have.

Icepaw

I predict the fight starts then mother AJ shows up and asks what is going on and why are they fighting... just an odd feeling I'm getting. I mean Rarity could run if she hit lil AJ with a sleeping spell then booked it... but looking forward to seeing how things go either way. In a fight lil AJ is in for a butt kicking for sure... she can't handle a nightmare pony alone XD

I did a playthrough of the game on my YouTube channel. wanna link to it?

CeilYurei

@ ruink

I was thinking it reminds me more of Dragon Quest, with 2 stage boss fights.

ruink

@ CeilYurei

that last panel is all Mighty No. 9. I have a run of the game on my YouTube channel if you want to watch it.

@ ruink

AH, okay, and maybe, and I guess that explains all the 9s in her HP number.

CeilYurei

Aww Shit. It's one of those 2 Stage battles Like Dragon Quest has! She might even have an "Icy pulse" type ability to negate all buffs. She is so clopped.
