I always wanted to get a drawing of Erebus's origins, before his famous ear tear. Below there's the story of how he got himself in that position, as well as the events that let him to become the wanderer he is now, shaped his character and caused his fear of flames.

~The Jolteon raced down the mountain. His breath came out in short gasps, his lungs burning with smoke, but he had to keep running. Fire before him, fire behind, the flames spread through the forest skirting the mountain. Tree after tree caught alight, though several patches of cypress seemed huddled away from the flames.

He hadn’t quite meant this… had he? Sure the recent events made him seem like an outcast among the populace of the forest and he sought revenge, but surely he had not meant to make it to this extreme…

“Oh,” said a nasty voice in his head, “but you did. You stayed to watch. You knew what would happen. ”

He was angry. That was why he went up to the mountain top. His fur bristling, electrical current flowing through his form as he had let himself release all of his frustrations in a booming howl, sparks falling from the tips of his spikes, the Thunder bursting up into the sky.

In a few weeks worth of drought, however, this had been a fatal mistake. These images rushed through his head, adrenaline pumping through his veins. His muscles strained with his effort, clearly outlined under his fur, each stride sending him leaping through the trees, narrowly avoiding other fleeing creatures all united in a desperate coup for safety.

Clouds rolled overhead, seemingly tinted orange through the smoke and flames, though Erebus did not waste valuable energy to glance up and see. After all, hims staying to observe his own mayhem was the sole reason he found himself trapped, one with those he tried to punish. Despite the pressure he felt, his thoughts were as clear as ever; this was his resolve. His sole purpose now was to escape, to live. With fight or flight in full swing, he barely even registered much of the events unfolding about him, barely even paying attention to those he outpaced. But he did hear the screams. Those were something he doubted he would ever forget.

Without warning, there was a loud THUMP! He felt pressure on his leg, not noting much else as he tried another stride of freedom only to fall on his face. He glanced back, eyes almost rolling in his skull, only to see that his hind legs were trapped under a large smoking corpse of a tree. Smoke grew thicker around him, the flames roaring closer, bursting through the woods like a demon on the hunt. Even now, he was aware he should be feeling pain. Where parts of the log shattered, he could see fresh wounds starting to ooze. Where cinders fell, he could see them burning into his pelt.  His violet eyes seemed to tremble, claws scrabbling through the dirt to no avail. He could not breathe. He wheezed wretchedly, only dimly aware of the flames closing in. With profound strength, perhaps derived from his body disregarding all safety in hopes it would live to see another day, the electric canine managed to, rather painfully drag his legs from under the burning log, the damage evident as he did. Thought, in his state, even as he crawled away leaving a bloody trail behind him, he knew full well we couldn't make it far, his vision blurring as his eyes watered through a mixture of the thick smoke irritating him and his own agony. In a matter of seconds he could no longer muster the strength in his trembling forelegs to pull himself forward, the flames dancing around him. His eyes dimmed as his ears glued to the back of his head.

High above, in the painted clouds, thunder roared once more in a crackling boom.
The Jolteon kept struggling, his efforts growing weaker and weaker until he found his grasp on consciousness fading, the smoke, weariness, and injury finally overcoming the poor creature. And as his eyes dimmed, as the clouds above roared, he felt… a single drop… of warm water…~

TL:DR: Jolteon tries to extract revenge but ends up getting caught in it. But please read it, the wonderful Neamhain helped me write it and it's honestly an amazing piece.
