Since I never have gotten around to talking about much of the animated shorts that Pixar or Disney has released, I figured I would talk about it here.

Piper, incase any of you were wondering, is a short film plays before Dory and I have to say, I was in complete awe over it.The story is pretty simple in that a little baby sandpiper is being taught by her mother how to get her own food. The bird tries but ends up getting spooked by the approaching water and wants nothing more to do with it. The piper then sees a young hermit crab and it's family going towards the water and sees how it gets about by digging into the sand to avoid the waves. The waves show up and the bird tries the same thing in a desperate attempt to avoid getting crushed by the waves only to discover that the underwater world is very pretty and full of shells to which she is able to locate them and help feed her flock. It ends with the young sandpiper running around the beach at sunset and the mother looking with a proud expression on her face. It's a pretty simple kind of story that helps deal with fears by tackling them head on for you never know what could be on the other side. It also shows that you can do things in your own way without having to follow the norm of the crowd you belong to. Director Alan Barillaro should be commended for his work on this films inspiration by observing sand piper birds in their natural habitat

When I was watching this film, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. the animation on this film Is so realistic and well detailed, The feathers on the birds and their mannerisms really were captured perfectly by the team that worked on this film. the water and sand were detailed to perfection with nice looking water glossed sand and underwater sequences were breathtaking to witness. This has to be without a doubt their greatest looking animated short film to date.

The music also help set the mood perfectly too. nice soft moments and perfect melodic moments that give off a sort of mystical vibe. all done by the incredible Adrian Belew, which this is his first animated film work, and he did a fantastic job, much more so then the guy who was hired for the Ratchet and Clank movie.

This animated short gets a 9 out of 10 for me. It is incredibly pretty and adorably cute. I urge you to watch it, which shouldn't be a problem if your watching Finding Dory.
