As fan as I am of raccoons, how couldn't I want one as one of the main characters in my story??
This is Keith, a 15 year-old north-american raccoon. Never met his parents, all his cubhood was spent in the orphanage, where he suffered all kind of abuse, and no 'offer' from any parents looking for a cub to adopt. Part because of his unfriendly nature and looks. From very young he's learned to take care of himself and also how to fight bigger furs.
When he was 12, he got it enough and escaped from the orphanage. Nobody really searched much for him. After living in the streets for a while, he finally found a job at the port's warehouses, in the night shift. That made him quite strong and capable for being so young and.. short!
Full of bad habits, with a dirty mouth and quick temper, he doesn't have many friends, if any at all. He was part of a band for a while, but quit it and since then, he's on his own, living (or rather, surviving) in a single-room apartment in the worst part of the city.
But he surely got a honor code, like everybody that is an out-law. He will try to not get himself in trouble and to not commit any 'bad' crime, but if you ever help him, be sure he will feel in debt and pay you as soon as he can so he can go on with his life.
