Ferne is a calm and reserved kind of person with a strong belief in his faith. Aside from his religion he likes to help others and work hard. Ferne likes to slip his faith into conversations and his extreme religious views can cause arguments. Sometimes he comes off as arrogant but Ferne honestly has no intentions other than helping others. He runs the adventurer's store in Diegoltun and is the chief supplier of the Paladin's (Valhalor's police force) equipment in Diegoltun. Ferne can be a tough nut to crack as it can be difficult to do anything without offending him slightly in some way not that he lets on. However Ferne is civil enough to the general public and a really nice guy.

Personality
Ferne is very religious, even before he was a reserved and kind person. His religious views are extreme but he doesn't mean any harm. Ferne honestly believes in the words of his faith and that ultimately if you follow its teachings it's better for everyone. He doesn't like conflict and he's a strong calming force. His religion makes him hated by everyone though Ferne doesn't intent to shove it in the faces of others. A quiet man most of the time but no coward, his unwavering character is admirable. Deep down there's a cheeky side to him but he keeps it strongly in check. Many may think his strict control over his behavior means he has a life that lacks passion or indulgence and he's secretly depressed. However Ferne couldn't be happier with the life he's chosen. He likes to slip his religion into conversations but rather than reeling it off like quotations uses a more subtle and personal method that's endearing. He's very likable and alone but never lonely as long as he has his faith.
Likes/Dislikes
likes Solism and i mean a lot, likes guiding people, likes helping out, likes doing an honest days work, like to talk to people and likes having friends, dislikes sin and sinners, people who dislike him because of his views or religion, the Vuki, people who backstab or turn others against someone and seeing people suffering.
Background/History
Ferne's family lived in Yova but after losing their house and being unable to buy a new one they did the unthinkable and made a deal with the Vuki. They got a house near the Yova-Monsterville border on the Monsterville side but had to do tasks for the Vuki that can't be described as anything but evil. Even after paying off the house they continued to work for the Vuki to get money so they could live an easy life. Following a shift in politics in the area the Vuki were pushed out giving Ferne's family some freedom. However Ferne's family decided they liked their new extravagant life style and actively sought out the Vuki to do business with them again to maintain their money flow. This tipped Ferne over the edge and after an explosive argument with his family he was kicked out for protesting against the Vuki. Ferne moved north and some time later his family moved back to Yova. However Ferne's family were unable to keep up with the Vuki's ever increasing demands and found themselves in a spiral of debt as they stopped working for the Vuki. The Vuki squeezed every last penny out of them leaving them homeless, whereas Ferne was making a nice profit running a general store south of Olrit. The Vuki decided to put the squeeze on Ferne and when he didn't play ball they kidnapped him. Ferne dpent some time with the Vuki as a slave and after a long period of defiance he was eventually sold to a Vuki family outside Olrit. However this time it was different as this family treated him very well. Ferne began to like being a Vuki in this village and was earning enough to become a free citizen. However he learned of what the people did behind closed doors and after gaining his freedom set about leaving for civilization. Unfortunately the family who had kept him manipulated documents to deny the existance of Ferne's freedom setting a plan to recapture him in process. Ferne learned of their plan and tried to escape the night before the Vuki family were going to act. He stayed in hiding in Olrit for three days before he was eventually captured by authorities and tried as a thief despite being innocent. It later turned out that the Vuki had been behind it. However a pastor from the Proque Clan met Ferne in prison and befriended him. When the pastor was found innocent of his crimes he appealed for a retrial of Ferne's case. Ferne was found innocent and released from prison. Ferne then started up a friendship with the pastor and became fascinated by the Proque religion. Ferne moved into the Proque village to the west of Olrit and spent many years there as a shop assistant. Ferne eventually attained Preacher status and moved to Diegoltun about a year ago to spread the words of his faith. He bought a building that had burned down to renovate into a corner store which he expanded into a minimart. After the mall was built nearby Ferne lost custom and used the size of his store as a warehouse for rent until just recently when he converted it into a weapon store.
Relatives/Family
Ferne's family live in Yova to the south. They disapproved of Ferne and kicked him out when he found his faith. Ferne has made efforts to bury the hatchet but his family are reluctant to.
World/Setting
The Valhalor world is a mixture between real-world, fantasy and sci-fi settings with the second item being a more dominant factor. There are 8 islands in Valhalor, 5 of which are divided into multiple countries. Many years ago there was a war between the Dozers of Meka Island and the Yovans of South Island, which resulted in Valhalor being divided into 2 warring alliances. Monsterville is a country in South Island that is strongly fantasy themed, though Olrit county in particular is very much modern day. Monsterville is mostly forested and has a European look. It's home to a lot of unusual wildlife and often hazardous kinds. Diegoltun City is the main setting for the Monsterville game which this character is from. The city has a wide range of businesses from shops, craft works and restaurants to offices, entertainment and tourist attractions. There are also several smaller villages around Diegoltun and the city itself is sat next to a much larger city known as Olrit.

Originally created by Rashid there's been very little alteration since the first concept. Ferne was created rather late in Monsterville's development however still rather early compared to many developments. Ferne was the first of what was to be a succession of really strange characters. The oddest part though is that this character was the most logically sound given the Albion universe. Yovans and Proque are very common in Valhalor, especially in the south. Although they usually sit on either side of the fence it's perfectly plausible that given the right circumstances a Yovan Proque could be wandering around. Ferne's name actually has nothing to do with the female first name despite having a body that resembles a female figure in a dress. It's actually because his body resembles that of a christmas tree. This confusion has lead to many fan theories and fanworks which some have been used in the game. However Ferne being a weapon salesman and a religious person has thrown up some controversy. Does the Proque religion promote violence? In a way yes but in a way no. They believe in self defense, armed policing forces and hunting but not in crime, war or violent conflict between groups of people or individuals. However that said the Proque do not shy away from war or conflict if innocent people suffering directly is involved such as their own war against the Vuki. Rather than supporting nations that promote peacekeeping forces, they only support officers is the safety of the world in general is at stake. However Valhalor has been united on one side for some time now except for the Vuki who live in villages outside of united settlements. The Vuki regularly commit crime and their settlements are connected via their own network. The Vuki believe in mob rule and doing what they want which often results in people from civilization striking bargains with them for personal gain. The one problem is that Vuki with power can be a powerful negative force that can be difficult to stop when it gets going. The Proque are very much criticized for their extreme religious views however they did free Valhalor from the Vuki's tyranny and still keep them at bay today. The Proque mentality is the major controlling factor in the personalities of its members. Their society is flourishing and successful but doesn't allow any form of indulgence or often individuality. That said they like to stay out of people's way in villages outside of other bigger settlements. Not out of not wanting to upset other people but because they are afraid the outside world's sinful ways will influence them into being sinful. Therefore most Proque never leave their own village and have little understanding of the outside world. That is however except for Proque Preachers who's mission it is to convert people to their religion and try to prevent sin in the outside world. These are often dotted around Valhalor but they are not very much liked because they often tend to put others down and spam conversations with their religion. Preachers are also the ones that do most of the fighting against the Vuki. They obviously aren't allowed to attack Vuki camps for no reason but it's often not very long before the two cross paths in the civilized world. The Vuki are usually up to something nasty and the Proque Preachers are quick to discover it and expose the Vuki for what he is. Ferne in this argument is a more peaceful and helpful kind of individual rather than boastful and hateful. Ferne believes the authorities do a good job even if they have been misled by sin and now protect people the Proque disapprove of. Should a major threat like an organized crime syndicate turn up Ferne would work with the authorities to overturn it. It's aspects of his behavior like this that are influenced by his faith yet molded by his personality that prevent this character from getting hatred for misrepresenting religion. It's worth noting that regular religions also exist within the Albion universe and that Proque faith is just one vision of religion rather than a representation as a whole. Even in the game other characters including those who worship religions we recognize and people who follow the same faith as Proque but a different branch are offended by what Ferne says religion is all about. The real problem is that given the limitations of the game making multiple religious people to represent rival faiths wasn't practical and since Ferne was a popular character they were included. And by the way I certainly do have permission to use the character from Rashid. Jay and Rashid are best buddies.
