Setting Riff: Furry Fantasy Races
Okay, I've been working on a Pathfinder fantasy campaign to play in with some friends, which I might also use as a backdrop for artwork. So I've decided to post a primer here.

An Introduction to Arendis.

The world of Arendis is a setting of anthropomorphic animals organized into various mixed nations, in cultures scattered across multiple continents. This campaign mainly concerns itself with affairs on the Continent of Uropal, and the conflict between the Kingdom of Gallaran and the Viranthium Empire. The Players will be sea-faring adventurers from the Free City of Freeport, currently neutral in the conflict.

Main Plotline: The Heir (Gender and species yet undecided) to the throne of Gallaran has gone missing after their vessel disappeared at sea. Divinations have revealed the Heir is alive, but their certain location cannot be found. So an agent of the King has charted a ship and hired a party of bodyguards to sail to the Heir's last known location, the city of Freeport, to investigate the disappearance.

P.C.s:
-Skye Eldrich, fox Aasimar Magus (Destined Blade archetype)
-Amber, Seal (variant merfolk) Wizard
-Indiko, Rabbit Bloodrager (Demonic bloodline)
-Ria, Platypus Druid
-Malik, Penguin Swashbuckler

G.M.N.P.C.: Colin Rodbert, Panther (Catfolk) Investigator

Introduction to the nations of Uropal:
-Kingdom of Gallaran: Medieval, Arthurian themed kingdom. Divided into multiple Duchies and Baronies. Internal wars are uncommon, but the nation is otherwise unified against outsiders. Gallarans value honor and virtue, and allow social ascent through merit.

-Viranthium Empire: Autocratic empire, mix of Roman and British empire themes, with some elements of Fascism and Social Darwinism. Main villains of the campaign.

-Kingdom of Zhev: Isolationistic Northern Kingdom with a mix of Russian and Germanic influences. Land of harsh winters and harsher warriors.

-Wilder Barbarians: Northern and Eastern hordes of barbarian raiders, mostly consisting of Anthros who have rejected civilization. Many have turned to worshipping demons, and/or engage in anthropophagy. Effectively replace Goblins, Orcs and Ogres.

-The Unicorn Forest Kingdom: Essentially the Elves of the setting, the Unicorns maintain a sylvan kingdom deep inside one of the largest forests in Uropal, within the borders of Gallaran (with whom they have friendly relations)

-The Kingdoms of Tir'Nach: Another nation of Barbarians, these a mix of Celtic and Viking influences and living off the North-Western coast on a nearby Island.

-The Undermountain Empire: a Clock/Steampunk kingdom located under the main mountain range of the world. Inhabited by a race of sapient humanoid constructs who effectively replace Dwarves.

-The Free City of Freeport: As from the Pirate's Guide to Freeport. Essentially a “Hive of Scum and Villainy” that is frequented by various pirates, smugglers, and freebooters.

Distant Lands: The Continents of Qatiraj, Nyambe, Azient, Narajan and Oztralis lay across the Seas.

-The only playable races in the world of Arendis are Furries of different forms, built with a wide variety of rules. Including, but certainly not limited to, Bull/Cows, Wolves, Cats, Rabbits, Bears, Unicorns, Ravens, Lizards, Snakes, and so on.

-Dragons are a non-playable group of beings split into multiple factions, each with their own goals and agendas, and regarding the “lesser races” as beneath their concern. Even the Good dragons regard non-dragons with patronizing gazes. Dragonblooded Sorcerers may level in the Dragon Disciple prestigue class, however.

-There are various examples of mutated anthro races, however. Gnolls, Pig-Faced Orcs, Minotaurs, etc. These dwell in the Wilder territories.

-Insectoids also exist, but are non-playable monster races.

Religion: I'm using the Mythology of the Book of the Righteous, with extra gods from different sources such as Golarion and Forgotten Realms. The worship of good deities is split into two main groups. The Great Church, which pays homage to the whole pantheon of Non-Evil gods, and the individual Churches dedicated to the various divinities.

Campaign Themes: Exploration, Sea Travel, Intrigue, War, Politics, Mysteries.
