Out in the school yard, two kids decide they're going to have a battle using only one of their monster tokens. both take out the small coins and flip them. When the coins land on the ground, two monsters suddenly appear, both being of the Foxune Variety. From there, their battle begins with the Firewind Foxune performing several different fire attacks. The little girl that summoned her, starts giving the firewind some of her energy to perform some of her larger attacks.
I did this drawing to explain some things about Monster Token in general. To start would be where do the monsters come from? they come from an alternate world where most of them live in places that represent their element. How are they summoned to the human world? Small tokens which have to be flipped before being summoned. How long do the Monsters remain in the human world before returning to their own? Part of me wants to say it depends on how many rotations the token made in the air before landing, however another part of me is thinking of it depending on how much energy they have. Finally, are the monsters okay with battling for these kids/adults? Just like how there are so many different personalities when it comes to humans, the same can be said for the monsters, some like to fight, some obviously don't, and others are neutral on the matter, plus on top of that, when a monster is defeated in the human world, they're sent back to the monster world to recover, but if they're defeated in their own world, more than not, they die. I hope this has been informative on the concept of Monster Token. enjoy!
TSR's version of the Cthulhu Mythos gods or monsters had it that when a god or such from another plane attacked and you managed to reduce its hit points to 0, it did not die but fled back to its own plane.
TSR had to remove the Mythos chapter, in later editions, due to complaints, but I have the original edition.
